I became interested in my family's history when my daughter received an assignment from her middle school teacher to write a story about Texas history. She chose to write about her ancestors moving to Texas in 1854. The stories we heard sparked an interest in both my daughter and me to make further inquiries. We have discovered a history rich in love of God, family and country. Now, 25 years later, I am a genealogy nut and love helping others discover their family history as well. If I can assist in any way, please contact me.

RE: John Cox
Jim Cox Editor of the Clarke County Democrat took myself and my daughter to see the Cox family cemetery on Monday May 16th 2016

We took old highway 84 from Grove Hill to Coffeeville and took the Center Point turn off to the right and the Cox family cemetery is on the left.

Jim Cox is very well spoken on the Cox family history in Clarke County.,+AL+36524/@31.7587581,-87.9894005,748m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m21!1m15!4m14!1m6!1m2!1s0x88852f3234dcf727:0x439c057de6660a04!2sCoffeeville,+AL!2m2!1d-88.0897308!2d31.7579353!1m6!1m2!1s0x88854c00531d512b:0x3821b0a46f212b43!2sGrove+Hill,+AL+36451!2m2!1d-87.7772218!2d31.7087681!3m4!1s0x88852f3234dcf727:0x439c057de6660a04!8m2!3d31.7579353!4d-88.0897308

LG Weaver
I believe LG and Martha were buried in Springer-Macedonia Cemetery in Montgomery County. I could not find a marker for them, but Martha's sister is buried there and it is near where they lived at the time. I believe I have more info on that *somewhere*.

I have am adding media to my Ancestry tree Burke/West you are welcome to use if you like.

I found a clipping from the Galveston News that is LG's death notice. It is the first thing I have found that gives a birth and death date. It also says he died in Hockley.

I think they must have been living with Andrew Jackson Weaver's family after Andrew and Sarah died. Mother said her dad always talked about how good Grandma Chatham's biscuits were.

Also, this clipping says that the three daughters of LG were living near McDade. I have always wondered when and why Lud and his sisters came to McDade. Seeing this leads me to believe
they moved here after LG's death so the sisters could help take care of Martha, whose health was poor, and the children.

Gertrude McCracken Black
You might want to notice the photos I posted for Gertrude Black. I am trying to correctly place a whole bunch of McCracken photos. I may have to get on ancestry to find them all though. You also need to note the James Hollis & Hollis Eugene Black listed as children here. The Hollis Eugene is apparently the SON of James Hollis, not a sibling. I did notify the owner of his memorial. I'm going to try to locate the other siblings and get them linked in. Gertrude and her sisters (I'm also going to try to find the parents of Gertrude) were "foster sisters" to my husband's grandfather, who was an orphan raised by their family.

Thanks so much for the info you gave me and I did link Mrs. Hanselka with her husband. I apologize for taking so long to do so. If Mrs. Hanselka is a relative, I would be happy to transfer her to you.

Hi Kathy,
Thanks much for the new photo of Ancel and Janie. Didn't notice it until about a month after you uploaded it, but it's great to have it. Thanks again. Blessings to you.

yes if you wish, or you can add that info to your page..and then I will delete mine. Your fam is closer connected to Him than I am.

Just place in edit that cemetery...all you need is his location of burial added to your site. I feel this is correct. The person on the internet had the information, but I could not open the whole site they had.

It makes sense, that he would be buried close to hime at the time....thanks for your response.

Try adding the burial location on your site...see what happens..It would be great to add more info about him if you have it...His parents etc.

Thanks so much for responding. Your page is so much nicer than the one I have for him...let's try adding the cem on his page you have created, see if that can be done.
