Actually, you don't have to do anything. All I have to do is put your member number in the transfer ownership. If you were going to ask someone if they would transfer the ownership of a particular memorial page (please read the information in the help files under: Editing & Correcting Memorial Information, for proper requests) then you would send the owner (listed at bottom of memorial page) a request for transfer and why you are requesting the transfer. Also, you would include the memorial page number and your member id.
I'll go ahead and transfer it to you so you can see how easy it is. It is up to you if you have any information you want to add to the page or not. I prefer to transfer pages to family of the person on the memorial page I created because I believe family should be with family.

Hi Georgia,
I got the message that you sponsored your late husband's memorial page at Find a Grave. I was wondering if you would like me to transfer ownership of his page over to you. By doing this, you would have control over the page. It touched my heart when I read your message to Sal and I thought it would be nice for you to have ownership. If you would like to have it then let me know and I will transfer it to you.
