 | Diacritical marks I just noticed that instead of "l" with a slash, there is "ł". Sorry.;) I'm sure you know what I meant.Added by KPM on Jun 24, 2011 3:48 PM | | | KPM
 | Zaluski / Zalusky, Holy Cross Hi Cindy,
I checked following sections: B, D, E, F, G, H, S, T and U. So far, I found only two persons named either Zaluski (Zaluska) or Zalusky.
Sec. T, Lot 77 (Footstone):
* Mary Zalusky, 8 Sep 1892 - 23 Jul 1962, "Dear Mother"
* John Zalusky, 28 Jan 1914 - 14 Sep 1949, "Dear Husband & Father"
I am looking for both spellings - correct/original Polish spelling and English version. Compare with Antoni Zaluski's gravestone: it says "Drogi Maz i Ojciec Antoni Zaluski" (even though there are no diacritical marks - should be, it is in Polish and the spelling is Polish, too). Because originally this surname ends with "-i", there are two DIFFERENT endings for men and women (Zaluski and Zaluska). One more thing, was Antoni's name originally spelled with "l" or "ł". Zaluski (Zaluska) is not as common as Załuski (Załuska).
Here are links to the surname maps - just to show you that the Polish spelling is slightly different and there are two different endings - for men and for women.
1. Zaluski (25 men): http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/zaluski.html
2. Zaluska (20 women): http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/zaluska.html
3. Załuski (852 men): http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/za%25C5%2582uski.html
4. Załuska (1958 women): http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/za%25C5%2582uska.html
You can click on certain points on the map to see the names of the towns.
I'll try to check the other sections tomorrow.
Best, KPM

 | RE: Catherine Zaluska Hi Cindy,
I came across memorial of Olga Zalusky Sienkiewicz, I read a story on her parents and I saw your note on Katherine. Because she died before 1920, I checked www.seekingmichigan.com - amazing webiste where you can find some interesting records, including death certificates (1897-1920).
I need to check the cemetery records and will let you know where Katherine was buried (more likely she didn't have a gravestone).
