Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been interested in genealogy for years and when I retired from TVA in 2004, I finally had the time to really get involved. I grew up in East Tennessee, but have lived in Ohio and Western KY also. My primary research has been on the Casteel, Long, Gay, Cardin, Cook, Lewis, Thompson, and Maxwell names. Also have researched my wife's family (Douthit). It is always interesting to find distant relatives spread across this vast country and share family information.

Barney Casteel - DOD
Hi Steve,

I noted you have Barney's death listed as Feb. 25, 1866. Do you know the source for the date. I have been trying to track back to the source. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!
- Kurt

Hello. My name is Penny Alexander. Harl is an ancestor of mine. Would you mind if I use the picture of his headstone you posted on ancestry.com on my family tree on ancestry.com?

Robin Cyrier
Barney Casteel
Hello. My name is Robin Cyrier(Godden). My mother's name is Patricia Godden (Casteel-maiden name). Barney Casteel is my 3rd great grandfather. I am related to him through my grandfather Horace Casteel. Buried at Edgewood-Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, FL. in Orange County. His father's name was James "General" "Gentile" Casteel. He had a couple of nicknames. On his grave it reads Gentile M Casteel. His son Willie's name also shares the headstone. They were buried in Apopka, FL at the Edgewood-Greenwood cemetery. A picture of the headstone can be found on findagrave.com. James' father was Jasper Casteel and Jasper's father was Barney Casteel. You may already have this information. Please feel free to contact me at cmrg2011@gmail.com if you would like.

Noticed someone had recently sent you an email about Robert A. Casteel. If this is one buried at Lawnwood Memorial Park, he is my first cousin. I have not been able to locate Find A Grave Memorials for Mayo and Myrtle his parents. If you are related to this line could you help me out. I also have all of Mayo's brothers, sisters and parents. Mayo is my mother's brother.
Grateful for any info.

RE: John Billingsley (57617240)
Hi, Steve!
John Billingsley was my 4th great grandfather. Our Billingsley family is a very large one. My line from John is via his son, Judge Samuel W Billingsley > his son, Nathaniel Hale Billingsley > his son, John Franklin Billingsley > his daughter, Mary Jane Billingsley Brummett, my grandmother. I will make the link you requested but will keep the memorial for the time being.
