I have been interested in finding my father's side of the family. I have been looking now for over ten years and it has been a slow process. The tools available now are much better, as "Ancestry.com" and "Find a Grave" are much richer resources than when I started. I do this as an avocation and through a little help from others, have built a rather large ancestry. I hope others find as much pleasure in their endeavors as I have. I currently live in Omaha, Nebraska with my wife. I have two children who are both adults and out of the house with families of their own. |

|Tombstone Treasures||Harold Gene Andersen|
I am doing a bit of research on the Andersen family. Do you know anything about Alfred Andersen's grandson, Harold Gene Andersen? I have not been able to find his parents...in the census it states Harold lived with Alfred as a young child.
Any info would be helpful and thank you!

Sorry I don't have any idea. Does the Amy Sophia you have
Have the same birth and death dates? Is it possible
Her husband died before her or that she died before him? Maybe that's why one is buried here in Washington and One in Colorado ?
So sorry, I wish I could help you more, but I have no clue.
Good luck in your search.

No we are not.
Our line is from Sweden with original spelling ANDREASSON, changed to ANDREASON circa 1930's.

You're right, sometimes the Marriage Record doesn't match what family actually knows to be true. I don't know either way - it's only a coincidence that my last name is Thompson and the Mrs. Maddux's maiden name is Thompson - we're not related to my knowledge. So I've noted the discrepancy in the memorial's bio. The bio I have there was just what was printed in the obituary.

I got that information from the St. Clair County Geneological Society Quarterly dated Number 1, 1982 Volume 5. Pages 24-26. If you can't obtain a copy or see it at Belleville, IL. Public Library. I can copy those pages and e-mail them to you.

In Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland was the custom to give the children as last name the name of the fathers first name. Pete Olsen (or Olson) son would be Andrew Petersen and the daughter would be Marie Petersdotter. Since Andrews children were born in Denmark that is probably were the Andersen came from. After arriving in the state and all the children had the name Andersen, the girls Andersdotter, he might changed his last name because it would have been easier than change all the childrens. Just a thought.
Dr. Anna Andersen was the doctor and was blind. After reading Bertroms obit, I guess he was a doctor too. The obit mentions Drs. Bertrom and Anna.

In the obit is says that his parents were Anders and Bertha Petersen.

I have added the obits for both Anna and Bertrom.
