STRANGERS IN A BOX

Come, look with me inside this drawer
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white
faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where or when,
These faces of my heritage
would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of pictures we take today?
The faces and memories
Someday to be passed away?
Make time to save your stories
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

RE: Sherman Directories
Hi Christine,
The Sherman Directories are a four volume set of Sherman's written by the late John Sherman.
They are in order by first names and date of birth. Each person has his or her own number and if lineage is known it references parents and children. I too have many Sherman's in my lines and when my friend passed away I inherited this priceless tool. I believe there is one in the Library of Congress and since John, the author, died in Monterey, CA I am thinking there may be a copy in a library there and I am sure there are more. It does not include every Sherman but it is pretty helpful. Let me know If I can look some folks up for you. If you want to go private send me your e-mail (if it isn't listed) through one of my memorials and we can continue on.

RE: Barbara Behls
You are very welcome. I visited the cemetery office again yesterday and was able to get the burial locations of both Magdalena Behles (interred 10/19/1903) and of Peter Behles (interred 3/21/1890). I found no information for Christopher Behles in any of the Catholic cemeteries. This does not mean he is not interred at St. Boniface, just that they have no record of it. If you can find any information regarding his location there, I will be happy to look for him. In the mean time, I will keep an eye out for him as I'm searching for other graves. I will post photos of Lena's and Peter's sites soon.

RE: Deborah Smith
Please add any photos you have. One of my friends, Kay Keskinen, puts on photos from the Moscow cemeteries on request, but I do not have the equipment to add others. Thank you for sharing your talent.
