Bio Photo Dear Ancestor
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
So many years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

I just discovered the memorial you put in Elmwood Cemetery for Irene Lee. Because of the birth/death date, I assume this was my grandfather's sister. My great-grandmother told me about her years ago.

How did you know she was buried in Elmwood? I know she is not near her parents and I know they were not living in Birmingham at that time.

Or is this another Irene Lee born/died the same day?

I found her husband Jep but she is not anywhere around. Maybe she doesn't have a stone but in the office they don't have a record for her. Could sne have remarried and under a different last name?

Have been looking all over and can't find her. Found one that died on same day in Harris county but born in 1886 but doen't say where she is buried.
