Hi Jim,
Thanks for the offer to visit Elam, but I did a complete cemetery census there several years back so it's not necessary. If Lena is buried there, it's in an unmarked grave. I may see if I can find anyone who might have family Bible records that tell where she was buried. Elam is definitely possible, since both her parents were buried there. But Hopewell isn't that far away, and she may be buried there in an unmarked grave, as well. I have cemetery records from the Pike County Historical & Genealogical Society and they don't list Lena at all, so Bible records may be my best bet...
Have a good trip to Pike County!
Best regards,
Nancy (Folmar) Reykdal

Beatrice Durden Sunday
I've transferred her memorial to you, since she's closer kin to you than I am. I'm related to her husband's first wife, Lena Thomas Sunday. I know Lena died in 1914 in Pike County, but I've never been able to find where she is buried. Do you know where Lena's buried, by any chance?

Best regards,
Nancy (Folmar) Reykdal

RE: Request for info on Penelope Johnson
Thanks, I'll visit the library in a few minutes and get copies of this.

RE: Request for info on Penelope Johnson
I am not a relative, but I am doing some research for a local retired teacher who does have family connections. I have a copy of the marriage record, but I am interested in your source for the name Penelope. The name given to me was Pensie/Pensy Pippins Johnson, and this information came through descendants of her daughter Mattie Pearl.

RE: Lewis Whitney
Yes, the smaller marker is a GAR marker. I think they were put on graves of Civil War Veterans by the local chapters, but I don't know the exact history of that.

I don't know much about this cemetery. I have only taken photos of a small section, and it seems to be a very large cemetery! There is an office across the street from the cemetery that seems to be staffed during the day, and they might be able to look in their records and help confirm for you the identity of this Lewis. Here's some info that might help you contact someone:
St Johns Cemetery Assn.
706 E Steel St
Saint Johns
MI, 48879-1117

Hope this helps,

Dear James,
You mention that you have her linked to her father. What might his name be? Wondering if it is Josiah Wilcox?

Dear James,
Yes I am direct descent. Josiah (Stephen Josiah Husted) was my 3rd great grandfather. I would be glad to compare information!
