I live in Pleasant Hill, Iowa: suburb of Des Moines, Iowa. I have been doing genealogy since the 1980's for the Whitney, Bailey, Spear, Tull families on my dad's side of family. The families on my mother's side of family are Chilton, Price, Besco and Broherd.

RE: Ida Grace Chilton Mayo

You are welcome! I'm sorry I don't have a photo or I would have posted it. You could request one.

Send the information, I'll be happy to add it.

Best wishes,
High Plains :)

RE: Martha Morris and Hannah Price

This old cemetery is in such bad shape, that the listing I am entering came from the Saint Clair Borough town records. I don't know who takes care of this cemetery (if anyone) when I went to look for my family there were only about 6 tombstones in the cemetery. This cemetery's burials are 80% of children.

Right now I have almost 1/2 of the cemetery done, the listing does not give a date of birth only how old that person was in years, months and days, which I have been entering so there is a date of birth.

RE: Records for Mt. Zion Cemetery
JoAnn, Wapello County Genealogical Society should have those records. They are located in the Wapello County Museum in Ottumwa. The number for the museum is (641) 682-8676. You can find the hours for the Genealogical Society at the website:

I suppose that the Arthur K. Chilton, bn. abt. 1865 I list, is the Arthur Price Chilton you mention. I know little about the Chiltons, but my grandmother, Sarah Reese Chambers, was the dau. of Thomas B. Reese and Martha "Mattie" Chilton, dau. of Joseph Chilton and Sarah Price. My mother, Ruth Chambers Covey, mentioned 'Uncle' Arthur Chilton on occasion, but other than one studio photo of a young man noted as 'Arthur Chilton', I know nothing of him. 'Aunt' Amelia Chilton Whitsel was mentioned much more often, I'm afraid, as she was apparently a favorite of my grandmother.
You are the first 'Chilton' cousin I've communicated with!

I appreciate your note, and will check out the Mahaska Cty site. Do you refer to Joseph Chilton and Sarah Price Chilton in your message? Or to Sarah's parents, David and Martha Price? If the latter, I'd very much appreciate any info you might have on them, possibly back in Schuykill Cty., Pa.
