Do you have any civil war ancestors buried in Oregon Co?

Were there sheep in New Salem cem? Got a picture a couple weeks ago of them,surely a hole in the fence,the lambs were so cute sleeping here and there,I'm sure the residents didn't mind.My e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org
My father was Thomas Darrell Caldwell at Thayer Cem,down by the entrance to the swimming pool,take a look on Find A Grave and go from there. I'm lucky both sides of my family have been close to Thayer since 1870 or so.
Shade Mansfield Pease was my grandmother's aunt.Shades husband AW "Buzz" Pease was city marshall,shot in the stomach thru a saloon window 1931-ouch! Another story I am just starting to research.
The courthouse at Alton now has the basement vault open and manned MWF 9-3 Carl burkhead is filing and sorting the things. Tax records 1867 to 2005,etc.court cases 1860's to... pretty good stuff there!!!
And now that you are hooked on Find A Grave..... Thanks again Shann
|Lindan S Caldwell||Thank you|
Thank you for the Shade Pease photo.I walked the entire cem last Fri and didn't notice the marker.Did you notice the mausaleum has been removed? Kind of an eyesore but was a part of the "history of the cem. If you ever can't locate a marker try to catch the caretaker at the cemetery office,he is very helpful.
I recently located the Old George Martin Farm Cem-historical.Take a look. Thanks again,Shann Caldwell Thayer,Mo
