Gina Caperton Ervin - daughter of Rohena Mackey and Bobby Jack Caperton of Fort Smith, Arkansas. I have degrees in sociology and counseling from the University of Arkansas and am fascinated with families of origin, ancestry/genealogy, European migration, early American history, and Scottish/English cultural heritage. I live in Fayetteville, Arkansas and have collaborated with my parents to document the memorials of our loved ones and ancestors.
The memorials that I manage are mostly those with family connections. The majority are relatives located in the Steep Hill, Cross and Douglass Cemeteries in Sebastian County, Arkansas, particularly from the Caperton/Mackey/Bugg/McAlester(McAllister)/Starnes families. Others are connected to me through my husband, David Ervin, and are located in cemeteries in Franklin County, Arkansas. Those families are primarily Ervin/Delaney/Pritchett related. However, I also documented all unrecorded graves in Steep Hill Cemetery in Sebastian County, Arkansas. I have 12 grandparents of various lines buried at Steep Hill. With that and the cemetery originating on family land pioneered in the mid-1800's, my interest is personal. In 2012, I was elected to the Steep Hill Cemetery board.
The memorials I sponsor are various generations of grandparents, aside from one great aunt, my father's brother who was killed in WWII, and two precious people as dear to me as grandparents.
I am making every effort to identify and add relationship links and personal histories. I want my children, grandchildren, and their children to know their family roots. If you are a relative and would like to help, I would welcome any opportunity to add information, pictures, etc., or to transfer memorials for your additions and care if you are more closely related. To the greatest extent possible, I want the memorials to provide rich content reflecting each person's life, work, family, and personal interests. My e-mail contact information is noted below.
Also, you can find Steep Hill Cemetery and website information with cemetery history on Facebook!
Sincerely - Gina Caperton Ervin | |

 | Dr. Thomas Hopkins Roughton I have taken photos of all the monuments in Springtown Cemetery. Today I checked to be sure I hadn't missed Dr. Roughton's. There is a lot of space on all sides of his wife's monument that have no markers. I can only assume his is buried in an unmarked grave. I was hoping there was at least a broken or plain stone but there wasn't a trace of anything there. Sorry! | | | Carol Davis-Ulmer
 | Steep Hill Cemetery No problem any time I can help I am happy to. I have several relatives buried there.

 | RE: Margaret and Congrave Jackson It would be great to have any information you have. Congrave Jackson was my sister-in-law's 4th great grandfather as well. I will be glad to share anything I have as well. The day we went to several old cemeteries in Clark County, Kentucky was a fun day. I wish I had not had the shadow on the stone but that is part of it. | | | Linda Pack Clemmons
 | Sponsorship Thank you for the sponsorship of Margaret and Congrave Jackson. These are ancestors of my sister-in-law. | | | | [View all messages...] |
