Bio and Links
I was born in Poplar Bluff, MO and raised in Puxico, graduated from Puxico High in 1960. I taught Civil (structural) Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for 33 years retiring in 2002. I now live in Horseshoe Bend, AR.

I have been searching for my ROOTS since about 1998, Wish I had started when my parents were living. Family names include: Buttry (with various spellings), Holloway, Keith, Summers, Thompson, Austin, Pool, Hyslop, and Keener. Most of these appear to have started in VA/MD, then NC, TN, IL to MO. On my wife's side the names include: Breedlove, Dickinson, McFarland, Durham, Bell, Cook, Foley, and Elgin. An interesting sidelight--in 1812 NC, a Butt(e)ry married a Foley which appear to related to myself and my wife.

Re: Elizabeth Skelton Thompson
Elizabeth's maiden name is Skelton, she married 1st Joseph Thompson 28,Jan,1872 in Gibson Co. IN. She married Augustus N Bennett 28,Dec,1876 Gibson Co. IN. On the 1880 census there is a child listed as Maria Bennett age 7 which actually is Maria Thompson, her daughter from her 1st marriage. The 1880 census has Augustus as H N Bennett but it is him. Son Albert's death certificate list mother's maiden name as Skelton, he died in St Louis Missouri. Missouri state archives has the death certificates online at http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/. I don't know if you are related but I thought you would like this additional information I found.

RE: William S Powell
1900 shows John and Jessie as Everett. I didn't find a later census on him. In 1910 Clinton, Custer, OK, Jessie Moor is shown as ad daughter 19 born Oklahoma. In 1920 census Clinton, Custer, OK she is shown as Mrs. Jessie Tucker 28 widow with daughter Vesta Rosalie Tucker 7 living with WS and Rosalie in Clinton, Custer, OK. By 1930 census Clinton, Custer, OK Rosa L is listed as 65 widowed with Gusta R. Tucker 17 boarder father born Missouri and mother born OK.
I studied this and went by the 1910 census on her last name. It could have been Everett instead. I looked and found nothing else on her. P
I have these on my Russell site on Ancestry .com and try to keep the data corrected. Please keep me in mind if you find the correct data. hkponder@teleshare.net.

Ida Lemons
Ken,

Sorry for taking so long to reply. The Ida Lemons that you are referring to is my 2nd great grand aunt. Her parents are my 3rd great grand parents.

Your last name is Buttry. Are you related to a Greg Buttry? His wife is the former Tonya Schrader, who is a first cousin to my dad.

Saunders headstone
Thank you for the photo graph of my children's great great grandparent's headstone. My son is the only Saunders male desendant to carry on the name. I am hoping to get him interested in his name sake. Your hard work on find a grave is greatly appreciated.
