Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been a full time genealogical researcher for 30 years. The primary surnames I research are Turner and Tilley.

I have been the group administrator of the Turner DNA project at Family Tree DNA Company from its inception in 2002 and much of my current research involves Turner lines. Thus, I don't do a lot of additions to Find-A-Grave except for immediate family and one cemetery that is located not too far from where I live that has a large number of Turners buried in it.

Find-A-Grave is a great resource but I am a little concerned that people are now adding research that goes beyond what is on the stones that is questionable as to its accuracy. I will add information when I can prove from a primary record that the information on the stone is incorrect. This often happens when a tombstone is erected some years after the event. I have seen numerous instances where people are using information published in a cemetery survey book that has errors in it and the information doesn't even match what is on a tombstone.

William tilley b. 9/28/1798...u have his grave on here. So he wasn't actually buried in cemetery but out in the woods. But his burial is close to that cemetery if someone was wanting to find his grave.

Thomas S Raybourn
Hello, Your notes state that Thomas' birth date was not left on his grave, but it was. Headstones can have the actual date of birth engraved on them, or they leave you to do the math by leaving the date of death and the age at death. Both ways of leaving the birth date were commonly used, and this way was an elegant way to do it as well as informing you of exactly how old he was when he died. In that birth dates are often wrong, it's not a big deal, but clearly some family member thought they knew both the birth and death date of Thomas Raybourn. You can use this calculator to learn that Thomas S. Raybourn/Rayborn/Reybon/Raibourne was born Sept. 4, 1786.

As the birth date was left on the headstone, you should have no problem with posting it. Or if that violates your stance, please post the URL so that others can calculate his birth date. The point of maintaining memorials is to inform, and this will help.
