Just a country girl from South Carolina. I grew up all around the Columbia area. But I have been away for 25 + yrs. Wow! Can't believe it's been that long.
I've got family all around South Carolina (Lexington, Irmo, Chapin, and Newberry areas, as well as around the Sumter, Florence, and Bennettsville areas). Also family in California and Oregon. Family surnames-Bickley, McCartha,Comalander,Jsckson,Garrett,White.
With all the older folks gone it's really hard trying to find family you never knew. Most of my findings have been family members or friends of the family.
I'm sure there are a few who will understand this and some who will not! I'm a free spirit, I enjoy nature and it's beauty and the freedom I have while walking with the angels who have past on visiting their graves.
As a child, I loved walking around old grave yards. Wondering if they could speak--what would they tell me. I found out what they are saying--"WRITE ABOUT ME!"
Everyone has their hobbies, mine are simple I love to reach beyond into the unknown. Life and death -- what a beautiful mystery. | |

 | Broome / Poer Hi Leigh, I see you have left virtual flowers for Flora Jane Broome Poer. May I ask if you are related? I am researching the Poer family and would love to hear from you if possible! Have a blessed day. KimAdded by Kim on Jan 04, 2012 5:44 PM | | | pickelman
 | Munnerlyn Family Line Found this on another blog and thought it might be useful for the Munnerlyn family line.
Francine, Jean, Dorothy and the rest of the list, I joined the list last week but have been too slack to respond. So, here's a brief history of my Munnerlyn connection. I descend from John Munnerlyn and Sarah Keene's son,
James Munnerlyn (b. ca. 1793 - d. 17 Sept. 1821 in Georgetown). James married Elizabeth Ann Grier (b. 23 Sept. 1797 - d. 3 Oct. 1827).
James and his brother Charles Lewis left Marion district shortly after the death of their parents in 1822 and bought plantations on South Island in Georgetown Co. They were members of Wayne Methodist Church in the city of Georgetown.
James and Elizabeth Ann had 2 children - a son named Samuel G. Munnerlyn (b. unk - died Oct 1845) who married Martha G. Hamlin (1821 - 1901) and had issue: Sarah A. Munnerlyn (mar. Richard T. Bryan) and
Frances Cornelia Munnerlyn (mar. James Grier White).
The other child of James and Elizabeth Ann Munnerlyn was my great-great grandmother, Sarah Martha Jane Munnerlyn (10 Feb. 1822 - 17 Apr. 1883) who married Rev. Lemuel Asbury Grier (1816-1877). They resided in Yauhannah (where I live) in upper Georgetown Co. on the Pedee River (just below the confluence of the Great and Little Pedee's which forms Marion Co.). Lemuel A. Grier and Sarah Martha Jane had a passle of kids that I'll name in the event someone sees a name that might be familiar (one note - the Griers used every known family name w/ the exception of an occasional Methodist minister) - the children were: Mary Elizabeth, Margaret Skinner, Samuel Edward Osgood, Sarah Frances, Henrietta Ann Shuford (my great -grandmo! ther), Asbury Coke Cornelius, Benjamin Marion, Martha Cornelia, Robert Collins, James Elmon and Judith Marion Grier. In re: James Munnerlyn (son of Capt. John) - I have never seen his name listed as James Keene Munnerlyn (although it may be) and have often thought that it might be James Elmon because his daughter named a son James Elmon Grier. For Jean - in re: Richard Garrell Williams - somewhere in my Williams file I may have some information on Richard Garrell Williams and will try to look it up for you. I do know that Richard G. Williams was the son of William Williams (wife unk.) who died at Potato Bed Ferry in Marion in 1801. Potato Bed ferry is on the Little Pedee not far below Robert Fladger's 1734 grant. There was a James Garrell who lived across the Little Pedee from the Fladger grant (present day Horry Co.). I don't know much about the Garrells but Cyrene might come from this James. I've rambled enough for now. Thanks Francine for going the extra mile. I know you're going to put this interesting old family in place. Deryl Young

 | William Franklin White Leigh, any help would be appreciated.
My sister-in-law is related to William Franklin White and Margaret Clementine Fort. Nell Fort White was her mother.
I can not locate the parents of William Franklin White. Do you have any information on his parents?
Thank you, Pickelman | | | Sandra McCorkle
 | RE: Marjorie Massey Gordon I haven't been able to get by yet Marjorie. I have been extremly busy lately with a church history book I recently wrote, taking orders, delivering and so on. Now, I am prepaing to go on vacation so it will be a couple of weeks before I can get to it so if you are close, feel free to go ahead and if not, I will do it when I get back. Thank you so much.... | | | Vikki
 | White The grave next to where he is buried is William F White 1871-1958 and wife Margaret C White 1879-1954 I am sure that I put the picture of them on the Evergreen site.. but like I said in my message this person's middle name is Bennett not Bennell.. I did take a pic of the plot where he is.

 | Marjorie Massey Gordon Leigh, I just noticed that you have listed Julius T. Gordon as the spouse of Marjorie Massey Gordon. That is not correct. Marjorie's husband was Jule Alexander Gordon, Jr.(1915-2003). I think he was buried at Weddington UMC cemetery as well but not positive. Jule Thomas Gordon was married to Ossie Snead Gordon and only married once. Please remove Jule Thomas Gordon as Marjorie's spouse. Thank you..... I don't live but a few miles away. If you can't confirm that Jule A. Gordon was buried at Weddington and don't add him, I will try to go by and confirm that. I will be glad to add him to the cemetery list if so. Thank you.
