I have been researching my family for a short time compaired to most people..By the time I started there were few people alive to help me or give me names and dates. Now I am the older generation. I am trying to be as correct as possible.

I am 74yr old, born and raised in Crittenden Co, KY. Lived in Albany, Ga for 18 years. I now live in Marshall Co and when weather and health permits, I will be searchng cemeteries.

I accept photo's and information from others and am glad to share mine. I do not like it however when copies my photo's or information get changed and then added as belonging to them.
Love to share with those that share with others.

RE: Gravestone for Thomas H Carter
I am so sorry but I made that offer to transfer without realizing I don't manage these memorials. I believe it is a member called 6 degrees. He is currently unable to access his e-mail until April 2 so please have patience while waiting for a response from him. I'm sure he has a lot of requests waiting for his attention.

John H Terry
Good Morning,

Hopefully I can post all the information I have.

Mary "Polly" Terry, born about 1815, is listed as John's daughter per the marriage record of Mary Terry and Jefferson Barrett, 31 May 1930, Livingston County, Kentucky. She was underage (about 15)so it has her father (John Terry) signing for permission.

We both know that John and Margaret (Peggy) Davis didn't marry until 24 October 1822.

In the Federal Census of 1820 in Salem, Livingston County, Kentucky, we find John living with two children under the age of 10, 2 males and 1 female, and one white female child 10-15. There is also a white female listed between the ages of 26-44 living with John Terry.

In the Federal Census of 1810, John is living with his father, Thomas (one of the two Free White Males between 16 and 25)

Here is the break down of that census record:

Free White Males
10-15 one (might sarah be listed as male here?)
16-25 two (another male child? and John)
45 & up one (Thomas Terry)

Free White Females
under 10 one (grandchild, parents John & 1st wife?)
16-25 one (possible 1st wife of John?)
45 & up one (Nancy Champion Terry, wife)

Four children of Thomas:

Champion Terry (He is listed with an adult female and child in Smithland, Livingston County, Kentucky. 1786 – 1872

John H Terry (22 years old in 1810)
1788 – 1849

James Terry (18 years old in 1810)
1792 – 1827

Sarah Terry (13 years old in 1810)
1797 – 1867

1820 Federal Census record in Salem, Livingston County, Kentucky of John Terry.
Dated: 7 August 1820

Free White Males
under 10 two
26-44 one (John Terry)

Free White Females
under 10 one
10-15 one
26-44 one (Unknown 1st wife?)

Total household:
6 Free Whites
5 Slaves

That would put John and unknown children as:

Unknown Male Terry born 1810-1820
Unknown Male Terry born 1810-1820

Mary "Polly" Terry born 1810-1820 (birth year listed as 1815 and 1813 in census records)
Unknown Female Terry born 1805-1810

Any ideas here?

RE: Photo's
You know, a lot of these pictures I have taken are complete strangers to my tree. I have no desire to hold a tombstone photo hostage. I just try to think what the person buried there would want. Would they want me to say "No, don't let anyone use it". I really don't think they would. I bet they would want their pictures to be used by their family any way they want. They might actually be offended by me, a stranger, taking pictures of their headstones, though.
