|My great grandfather Joseph Cusworth was born on June 20, 1886 in West Milton, Yorkshire, England where he became a coal miner. He left England on May 10, 1887 and finally settled in Roslyn, WA in 1889. He and his son Joseph were killed in the big coalmine explosion in Roslyn on May 10, 1892. My great grandfather had 13 sons and daughters including my grandfather Obadiah who had 11 children most of whom lived in Roslyn, WA their whole lives. In the cemeteries of Roslyn, all of the Cusworths and many of the Baughs, Booths, Holmes, Justhams, Laurents, Owens, Prescotts as well as others are connected to me.|
Over the years my father Thomas John Cusworth (1911-1987) had written down a lot of he family history that he learned from talking to family members. After he retired in the 1970's, he decided to create a family tree on a piece of butcher paper and had several copies made that he gave to various members of our family.
After I retired I too became interested in family history and found it very easy to keep records with a computer program. The past three winters have spent a lot of time doing genealogy research, mostly on the Internet. Many of the databases in the Internet charge a fee to access them and I was pleased to stumble onto findagrave.com and find out that it was free.
I have a database of over 1300 people that are connected to me and will try to enter a lot of that information onto the findagrave.com sites.
The only people that I have entered or manage are family connected and I have a lot more information than I can possibly enter on these sites. If you are family and or have more information to share, please contact me and I will gladly share with you.

|Thomas P. Moen, Jr.||Earl John Godfrey|
Thank you Tom, for linking Earl to his parents graves. Thank you too for the detailed information you sent me. I've been working on genealogy for just a few short months. I've known of Find A Grave for years, but thought it only had listings for famous people. Near Easter I found that Find A Grave had graves for millions of people. I found my father's and mother's graves, my stepmother's grave, all of my grandparents graves, and many great grandparents graves, etc. Through Find A Grave I found Archives.com and started a family tree on Archives. My cousin, William Pellow (son of Mamie Godfrey Pellow, sister to Earl John Godfrey) in Republic Washington, has traced to Godfrey line back to Stephen Hopkins who came to America aboard the MayFlower in 1620. Quite exciting. Looks like you're even more involved in the family tree.
I've met several distant relatives on Find A Grave, and have found them to be, just like you, to be very nice people.
Bill Pellow has lots of old family pictures. I'm sure you would like to visit with him. He is the only Optometrist in Republic Washington, and is easy to find.
I'll send you a detailed list of Uncle Earl's brothers and sisters.
Thank you again for your very kind and informative note.
Thanks for the information. I have linked Kathleen to her husband, Jerome.

Hello Tom, you've posted some awesome items on find-a-grave. Thank you. I see you've posted Earl John Godfrey. He is my Granduncle. He's the oldest child of Winslow and Sena Godfrey, my Great-grandparents. He was born in Alma Center, Jackson, Wisconsin, USA. I believe he died in Spokane, Washington at the Spokane Sanitarium. This was a nursing home owned by my Grandmother, Bessie Mae Godfrey Morphis (sister to Earl) and my mother, VerDel Morphis Moen, and uncles, Richard Morphis, Sr. and James Morphis, Sr.
If you are related to Earl Godfrey, you're related to me too.
I'm 54 years old and live in Desert Hot Springs, California. I work as a funeral director. My wife and I have been married for 29 years. We have two sons, Thomas III and Theodore.
Best wishes to you, I'd love to hear from you.
Thank you very much for posting all of this information; it's so interesting to read.
I was wondering if you have much information on Sophia/Sophie Laurent Cusworth? My name is Sophie Cusworth, too, and my ancestors were originally from Yorkshire, like her husband. I am also related to a Joseph Cusworth, who could have been the 'Joe' listed as her son.. Of course, my family all live in Australia these days, and so we could be completed unrelated, but I am still very interested in Sophie.
It would be great to hear from you.
