Bio Photo Currently working on virtual Cemeteries for Forsyth Co, Fannin Co and Dawson Co, GA CSA soldiers. If you have a relative that served in either County and he is not on my list, let me know and I'll be happy to add. These brave men deserve all the honor and respect we can give to them; God knows they didn't get any when they returned home; or left dying and dead on the battlefields, buried on the battlefield, in woods, or in shallow forgotten graves. And definitely not from the general public in today's world of PC or those intent on rewriting history and destroying anything remotely related to the Confederacy! To date I have 50 CSA soldiers that I am directly related to and continue to search for more.

Duplicate memorials: if I have made one, let me know; I will ask FAG administrators to merge into one. They have been very helpful in the past to merge duplicate memorials. When FAG administrators merge two memorials, none of the flowers, etc. are deleted. If you have made a duplicate memorial of one of my memorials, please be kind enought to delete when asked to do so or ask FAG to merge your memorial with mine.

Thanks to everyone who have left flowers and notes on my Uncle: Augustus (Gus or Junior) Byrd (# 48422763), who died in a Japanese Prison Camp in 1943. This brave soldier as well as all others who have served and/or given their life for their Country, in any war or act of aggression, deserve all the honor and respect we can give them.

NO Death certificates, please! Although permisable by FAG, they really are in poor taste and take up space that could be used for photos.

Special thanks to all FAG members who have so graciously transferred memorials to me. Your kindness and generosity are very much appreciated.

Jones Family Cemetery in Newton, Co GA
I took a road trip this afternoon to try and find this cemetery. 3 of my Smith ancestors are buried there including my Great Grandfather. I could not find it. Any clues would be helpful. If not, I could go to the Newton County Courthouse and see what I could find. thanks, Doug

RE: Hello
I totally agree! I am quite active as a member of the Georgia SCV and write articles for them on occasion. I am upset that others would try and erase our ancestor's history and I will be in the battle to insure that this doesn't happen.........Paul

RE: Hello
Hi Joyce:

Thank you for the info!

I purchased both Walton County Georgia Cemeteries (East & West) books and he is in neither? I will have to inquire how I can get him added in both the Gresham section as well as the Confederate Soldier section. I probably will have to provide his documentation to the East Georgia Genealogical Society. I did become a member of the Georgia Sons of Confederate Veterans and am quite active even here from New York........Paul

Hello
My great grand father was Sergeant Edmond B. Gresham, brother to Lt. James Monroe Gresham; both served in Company "H", 42nd. Regiment, Georgia Infantry. I am trying to locate his grave so that I can insure that he has a proper Confederate grave marker. My cousin, Annette Wade, has been helping me, but still unable to locate said grave. There is an un-named Confederate marker in the Crawley-Gibbs Cemetery but not sure it is his and still trying to determine caretaker for said grave site. RE: Augustus Byrd, Jr.
Joyce,

It is my honor to visit Augustus's memorial. He paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom. I know the grief of losing a child, but I also know where my child's body is buried. I can't fathom having your child cremated and disposed of and not knowing where he was placed. War is cruel. Thank you for visiting Zane's memorial. It is appreciated. May you have a great weekend!

Hi Joyce, sorry for my slow response. I've been tied up with many things going on. I have a new ancestry tree and submitted my DNA kit, it should be processed soon. I'm excited and try to get my family tree straight for comparisons. I have been researching hard on my ancestors and I had eye surgery Monday. I'll check those memorials out and I'm going to try to get a marker for my gg grandfather, H.J. Cox of Barrow Co Ga. I contacted the 16th Jackson Co Ga. Rifles organization there and they said they'd check into that.( Haven't heard a peep back) I'm going to take your advice and do it on my own. I've contacted many Civil War experts in my past but no help at all. Not even on my gg grandfathers service records. I deeply appreciate all your time and trouble. Your amazing! Thanks! Tania
