|I grew up listening to family stories that my paternal grandmother told me. I requested to hear them over and over again. Family history is important to me and I feel that our stories need to be told and remembered for future generations. My research includes:|
Paternal Family- PARR, PARE, POWER, POWERS, STEWARD, STEWART, VERVALIN, PEDIGO, CARPENTER, WILKERSON, WILKINSON
Maternal Family- KEESE, GRAY, WHITE, MAYATT, CRAVER, MASSEY, YORK, GREER, BUTLER

Hello. I found stone today to photograph for William and Myrtle (shared stone). FYI In the same cemetary I also took photo of Clyde and Mae Steward stones nearby. There were also some Stewarts and Stuards in the same section of the cemetary. Let me know if you would like the photo for Clyde and Mae? (Born in early 1900s) I am thinking you might want to create memorial if they are your family members. If not, I can add a record later. Have a great day.
I see that you do Steward family history and you left a flower on the above memorial number. Do you know if Florence Inez Pruitt Steward is buried alongside her husband, Rufus Milton Steward, in Highland Cemetery? Death records indicate Inez died in 1944. Thanks, Nancy (Gadsden, AL)

Sorry it has taken so long for me to answer. I will transfer in the future, but I want to do some more work on this cemetery first. Since so many people buried there are kin I want to be able to access them myself until I'm satisfied I've done what I can. I have several relatives there myself, in-laws of relatives, etc. I also have been "wading" thru a lot of links that I have received and am also double checking those. It's probably just a coincidence, but my maiden name is Bowlin and it is often spelled many different ways such as being spelled Bolin. This evening we are having dinner with the widower of a cousin. His wife, a daughter and his parents along with numerous other relatives are buried there and I'm going to "enlist" him for assistance.

I would be happy to fulfill your Restland Cemetery grave photo request. However, because of the large size of Restland, I will need you to call Restland and obtain a grave location for me first.
Please call Restland (972-238-7111) for plot information. Or you can e-mail Restland by navigating to the "Contact Us" page on their website at http://www.restlandfuneralhome.com.

The Steward family stone and the rest of the plot has settled and sloped to the south. The reason the "Mother" stone was hard to find was that it had been covered over by about 6" of dirt and grass that had washed in due to the sinking of the entire area. After digging it out, I showed it to the caretaker of the cemetery and she said if you wanted to contact her directly, she could have it repaired for you. I expect that she uses a crew that have very reasonable fees. I will be happy to give your email, if you want to try to get it fixed. Otherwise, a few good rains, and the Mother stone will be gone again.

I added the additional Vervalin's I had photos for and transferred them to you. I like folks to be with family. Please make the connections and add additional info if you have it, I like to know the history of the folks in the cemetery. Thanks Mimi

You are really quite welcome to use the photos as you wish. We love this hobby and do it for that reason. It's a bonus when someone appreciates what we do and says so.
