 | RE: Memorial #32315289 I'd be honored if you used the picture I took. Sadly, I don't remember much about the cemetery except that it wasn't in the best condition.Added by VJS on Sep 20, 2012 10:05 AM | | | Richard Diamond

 | RE: Oak Hill Cemetery Restoration Well, if you live in Hammond then you know all about it :-) I can give you Kara Gulickson's e-mail address and you can contact her about volunteering. She's the major person who got this restoration project going and was key in getting the Trustee's office moving on taking over the cemetery. I was born and raised in Hammond but now live in Central Indiana so it's not as easy for me to get there to help with clean-up, etc.
Contact me at my e-mail address: borntobounce518@yahoo.com and I will give you Kara's e-mail address.

 | RE: Jesse Sutton, Mem#83480824 Hi Sue. You are more than welcome to use the photo of the grave of Jesse Sutton. I did a little bit of research on Ancestry at one point and chose not to add anything extra because there were several Jesse Suttons in the area at that time. I have been leaning to this being Jesse Sutton who married Mary F. Sutton and if I am correct then a few of their children are also in Oak Hill Cemetery ... Albert, Dick and John Sutton (as well as mother Mary F.) and Dick's wife Inez. Am I anywhere near correct? If so, I'd like to add that information to the memorial. You are welcome to take over the maintenance of the memorial if you like.
There's no need to thank me ... I have been helped by many Findagrave.com volunteers and I, too, am quite thankful for their help and dedication. This memorial came about from the restoration of the cemetery as well as a major effort to record the stones before they are all gone. Have you heard anything about this poor cemetery???

 | Lacey Sue - I could not find any records. I was in Alabama in April and I got the year from talking to the relatives who've lived there all there lives. Lacey's daughter Tincey died in 1967 and according to them Tincey claimed her mother died in 1901. Nobody knew of any written records or family bible notations. | | | | [View all messages...] |
