 | Davidson Cemetery Hello! I read your message to Amber Mahan Vaughn about getting to Davidson Cemetery, and it brought back memories! I was only there once, and I used a county map. It took me directly there, because the cemetery was marked and the dirt roads were marked also. This was probably 30 years ago or more. But just after we left the cemetery, a rainstorm hit, and those roads became well nigh impassable. Not quite, as we did get through, but with a lot of sliding and making deep ruts. The lightning storm is what I'll never forget. The rain came so hard I couldn't see the end of the hood of the car, so I stopped, and the lightning was striking all around us for about half an hour. I've never seen so many lightning strikes at one time. But we made it out!
Thanks for posting the picture, too. My pictures were film type and I haven't scanned them. Thanks!

 | Goodall, Gott, Sneeds Larry, it has been a few years since we have been in contact and I wanted to thank you so much for all the work you have done to put the information out on the Gott, Goodall family.
My Grandmother was Edith Sneed Herring, her mother was Mary Ocey Gott.
After gathering all the information I could from this website on the Gott and Goodall families, I was inspired to fill in a few myself from the Rockport Cemetery.
The search engines have not picked them up yet, but here is the direct link to Edith's and you can click the link for 3 other family members. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=108510638
Thanks again for your dedication to keeping the family history and for inspiring me to do more.
Blessings, Lydia Baugh

 | Joseph Looney I added the information that you suggested to Joseph Looney's memorial. The infomation states that his wife is buried to his left in an unmarked grave. I don't know how old that information is, but Almeda does have a headstone, which I have placed a picture of on her memorial page. I also linked Joseph to his wife and son.
Thank you, Erin Jackson | | | Amber Mahan Vaughn
 | Davidson Cemetery Hello,
Please advise as to where the Davidson Cemetery is located. It is kind of difficult to locate based on the map and I am unable to find any directions.
Thanks,

 | RE: Looney and Patterson Families Hi Larry,
Thank you for responding (you can respond to my e-mail address if you want to).
It is not necessarly just Fountain Looney that I am interested in...but what D. A. Looney name was (what does the D. A. stand for). What was their wives first and last names (Maiden). I am trying to do as much research as I can to get back to who my great grandfathers parents or siblings were. William Patterson was my great uncle and Margaret Lucinda Hardin Patterson was Williams wife (William and Margarets funerals were the focus for where these people (D. A., wife, Fountain)came up.
My 90 year old uncle says the Looneys were related somehow to my grandfather Harry Cleveland Patterson...who was William Pattersons brother.
By the way...are you related to Mr. and Mrs. Guy Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Johnson, A. C. Johnson, and Nadine Johnson....they were also at my great uncle William Patterson funeral in 1951.
Others that were at either, or both Williams and Margarets funerals were family names....Parcus, Asbury, Williams, Martin, Roberts, Griffin, Tyson, Houpt, Davis, Reed, Stovall, Patzke, Blume (Gladys Looney), Lanier, McIntosh, Powell, Pearson, Maxwell, Bishop, Easley, The funerals were in 1951 and 1952 in Rosebud, Texas.
Family roots are in (mostly) Lincoln and Sevier Co., Tennessee and Marshall Co., Alabama, and Milam and Falls Co., Texas.
Do you have a site on Ancestry? I am there under the family name Patterson/Downes.
Thanks, Barb. | | | Barbara Halverson
 | Looney and Patterson Families Hi Larry,
I live in Falls County very near Powers Chapel Cemetery. I know there are several of the Looney familly members there....as is my family. My grandfather was Harry Cleveland Patterson who was married to Alma Jane Brown. He was born in 1891 in Marshall Co., Alabama. I have the funeral records for William Patterson, Harrys brother and there were some Looneys at that funeral and Fountain Looney was a pallbearer there. Looneys there included D. A. Looney, Margie Looney, Mr. and Mrs F. A. Looney, Opal Looney Bacher, and Gladys Looney Blume. My 90 year old uncle Pat (Gene) Patterson tells me that Harry Cleveland Patterson and William Patterson were related to the Looney in some way but he does not know how.
Fountain Looney was also pallbearer for Margaret Lucinda Hardin Patterson, William Pattersons wife. At her funeral were Mr. and Mrs D. A. Looney, & Mrs. F. A. Looney.
We were also related to the Williams, and Parcus families.
Are you on ancestry.com?
Could you possibly help me in finding out the relationship of the Pattersons and Looneys...how they were related?
Thank you, Barb. | | | | [View all messages...] |
