RE: Basil Williams

Thank you for your message.

The Basil Williams that died in Kansas is not the same as my ancestor. (Basil/Bazil seems to have been a common name at the time.)

Basil who had lived in Iowa was my 3rd great grandfather. His widow (my 3rd great grandmother) had moved to Chicago sometime prior to 1900 and was living with her daughter (my 2nd great grandmother), second husband and 2 eldest of her 3 children. I believe her daughter, (my 2nd great grandmother) had moved to Chicago sometime between November 1891 and July 1895. It's a guess as to the exact date they moved from Iowa.

Basil's widow (my 3rd great grandmother) moved to Chicago following the death in Iowa of her husband, Basil in 1895 or 1896. This date was also confirmed by her death certificate, indicating she had lived in Chicago for 19 years.

The 1900 US Census states my 3rd great grandmother, a widow, had been married for 43 years. Elizabeth and Basil were married in 1853, (their first child Eli born the following year) so adding the 43 years or marriage, I figured 1896 was the best guesstimate of Basil's death.

My 3rd great grandfather Basil Williams also had a daughter Catherine, but she was married to Benjamin Marks. Catherine and Benjamin never moved from Iowa after Catherine's parents had moved to Iowa from Kentucky. Basil may have possibly lived a short time in Illinois before settling in Iowa.

Stevens genealogy
This is Garry Boice again. I forgot to mention to you, that Hezekiah Stevens Jr.'s mother's maiden name was also Stevens, not Garner. Tamar Stevens married her cousin, Hezekiah Stevens. I have documents to prove this. Are you a descendant of Hezekiah? I would be happy to share these documents with you. The documents are baptizmal records, probate records and land deeds. When all are put together and analyzed, it is absolutely certain that Tamar Stevens married Hezekiah Stevens. Be glad to share them if you want, just email you email address to
Thank you,
Garry Boice

Hezekiah Stevens, Jr.
I have the death record of Hezekiah Stevens, Jr. and it says that he was born in New York, the entry for Winsor, VT, is for the person above Hezekiah, who was Harriet Dack, not sure of last name spelling. I can send you a copy of the death record, if you wish. Hezekiah's memorial number is 67924857.
Thank you,
Garry Boice

Thank you so much for your message about the genealogy records for Wilma Johnson Kidd. I will certainly check it out. She was my grandmother's cousin. How are you related?

RE: Memorial 127537178
Glad to meet you. What do you know about this family? I live just a few miles from this cemetery and it is in terrible shape. Last summer, I photographed what is left of it. A farmer has plowed up all around it and you have to walk across a field to get to it. According to land records, Asa Wilson was the land owner. Am willing to share what little I know.
