I got interested in genealogy in 1978. I had always been told that if you met someone named Hawpe you were related. So I set out to confirm the story. I was able to trace the HAWPE lineage back to a Rudolph Hawpe who settled in Greenville, Augusta County, Virginia in 1784. There I hit a brick wall and was unable to find the next generation. |
My brother Gary Hawpe got interested and we began tracing the descendants of Rudolph Hawpe. He has a website on our family (Hawpesville) where we have placed the information we have discovered over the last 35 years. As of October 26, 2014 we have identified over 14,502 descendants of Rudolph Hawpe plus spouses.
In September 2009 that brick wall came tumbling down. All it took was one swipe of a swab for DNA testing which was submitted by my brother Gary. Which resulted in finding the Hawpe ancestral homeland and clues to taking the lineage back to the early 1500's.
I joined Find A Grave in February 2010 and have been creating memorial pages for those descendants and their spouses who we have burial locations for. Another big project has been to find memorials of these descendants, created by other gravers and suggest corrections and provide additional information to be added to them and have them linked to the next generation or spouse.
I appreciate all the volunteers who take photos of these graves as they are scattered all across the country.

Memorial#49969512 has been transferred to you since he is in your family line. The duplicate has been removed. I established the memorial to honor his service to our Great Country and especially since he was a Navy Shipmate and Veteran. Please any correction to the memorial you wish. Thanks for informing me of the errors.

Please call Ft Lincoln at 1-301-887-4930 and get Locations for your loved ones, 2 requests at a time. Add them to your photo request and you will be more likely to have them fulfilled. You may have to call several times to get that info. They are very hard to get info from.

Sorry I am not sure what the original edit request was which I obviously sent to you. Please accept my apology. I have been working on this cemetery for a while now. This could have been sent by mistake. The dates are correct and the obit. States she was Raised in Brownsburg. Leave as is.

Thanks for the source information on Joan's middle name. I don't like to post information if I don't have verification of the data. I did make the changes that you requested related to her parents and middle name.
Take care and thanks for your contributions to Find A Grave.

Hi, you provided a middle of Leah for Joan Ennis Pugh, memorial #81845171. Can you provide the source for your information before I add your recommendation? I checked her obit and other sources but could not verify the middle name.
Thanks for all your contributions to Find A Grave.

Your welcome. If you'd like Carlton transferred just let me know.
I was looking at your bio and believe I'm familiar with your brother through a Yahoo genealogy message board.

Hey D! Thank you so much for bringing that to my attention! I must have been having a brain freeze when I forgot to add it to Nanny after adding it to Pawpaw! & Thank you for cropping the photo of Pawpaw! That is so amazing! I wish I would have cropped them when I scanned them, I wanted people to see that I wasn't guessing who they were, that is my moms (Linda Dull Harris) writing on all the photos, But getting rid of the borders makes Pawpaw really stand out & it looks bigger! Got your Message & going to get back to you asap on FIX-DULL info! Have a nice day! :) Cousin Jen
