I got interested in genealogy in 1978. I had always been told that if you met someone named Hawpe you were related. So I set out to confirm the story. I was able to trace my lineage back to a Rudolph Hawpe from Greenville, Augusta County, Virginia. There I hit a brick wall and was unable to find the next generation.
My brother (Gary Hawpe) got interested and we began tracing the descendants of Rudolph Hawpe. He has a website on our family (Hawpesville) where we have placed the information we have discovered over the last 33 years. As of February 1, 2012 we have identified over 13,381 descendants of Rudolph Hawpe plus spouses.
I joined Find A Grave in February 2010 and have been building memorial pages for those descendants and their spouses who we have burial locations for.
I appreciate all the volunteers who take photos of these graves as they are scattered all across the country.
