|Tina Bokar||RE: Friedman's|
I sent you an invite to the tree. I have pictures also for all of gg Joe's children. Most of these Friedman's lived to be very old...lol. I remember gg talking about his sisters Sophie and Lena. I am familiar with who Sophia McCanns son (Father Tom) is. He use to be the pastor at a school my daughter went to. Immaculate Conception. I will grab the Holy Cross headstones this weekend. I am very surprised that one of gg Joe's brothers are buried at Holy Cross. Seems most of that family stayed in Massillon, OH. When I was little he still had a property in the Green/Massillon area. I use to go there with my grandma where we would pick vegetables out of the garden and take them to her house. I did not meet him until I was about 8. I remember when I met him, he scared me...lol. GG had lost all his fingers and only had a thumb on one of his hands. I had not been around anyone at this point that had lost any limbs. I use to sit at my grandma's house with him and look at old photo albums. We would all play Rummy...lol.
My father more recently told a really cute story about gg. My parents married in 1965. So gg meets my mother one day, my mom was wearing a pair of shorts. Long shorts I might add...lol, gg told my father...boy you let your wife dress like that? My dad told him grandpa..what should she be wearing? GG told him "a dress or a house dress"....lol. He told him, grandpa I can't tell my wife what to wear..lol. Goes to show the age differences...lol.
I heard my father and other people talk about Joseph Jacobs "big" farm in Massillon. With the help of another Friedman descendant we found the old farm. Not as much land as when he owned it but, the house and barn were still standing. I have pictures of the house back when he lived there and updated (today). From some of my fathers first cousin's...I have been told some really funny stories of them staying on the farm with gg.
Let me know if you have any questions after going through the tree.
I added some Friedman headstones. I am a descendant of Joseph Jacob. I had added a memorial for my great grandpa before I seen you had one. The stories I could tell you of my great grandpa...lol. I am lucky to have had him in my life until I was 18. Let me know if you would like access to my tree in ancestry? I have several pictures of him posted. Also his wife and family.
I will try to work on finding the other family headstones and take them.
