Betty Blackburn
I got your note about Betty Blackburn. I have been thinking lately we may have the wrong name for her, so please post the photos of what you found on the memorial in fulfillment of the photo request. I'll update the memorial. I'm very grateful for your help.

RE: headstone picture
I have surveyed the Lindsey Cemetery and there is not Riley S or Mary Jane Bailey there. Sorry.

RE: confused
Hi Michele,

Essie Leola Blaikie was the daughter of Alexander Blaikie and Martha Holland Merrill, daughter of Jacob and Holland Merrill.

Alexander Blaikie was born in Scotland and Martha Holland Merrill was born in the Leon Community in Crenshaw County, Alabama.

Essie Leola had a twin sister, Dessie who did not survive infancy. Dessie is buried in the Providence Cemetery near her parents.

I have tons of information on this family and would be happy to share what I have. Please email me at diggingupmysouthernroots@gmail.com

Best Regards,

-Janice
