The Howes in Canon City, Colorado
If you wish I can send you the scanned copies of their obituaries, and, of course, the photo of their gravesite. I do have another picture that shows how many Roberts are buried in that plot. I didn't want to post it to Mr. Edward and Miss Emily's Memorial, because the Roberts have a huge headstone, and it would have completed overshadowed any mention of the Howes.

Gr-Gr Grandfather Joseph Collins.
I believe that Joseph's brother Joel either led Sam Bass into a life of crime or certainly was i9nstrumental in furthering that way of life. joel was the trail boss for a herd and per instructions he sold the herd in Ogallala, Nebraska and gambled the money away before the owner arrived to take possession of the proceeds of the sale. Sam Bass was one of the drovers in the outfit. Joel Collins and Sam Bass and others were trying to recoup enough money to replace what was lost gambling before the big boss arrived.
I have a copy of a ranch tally book used to keep records of cattle branded during round-up and Joseph Collins was involved in the roundup. The tally book was a record kept by Thomas Dewees of Wilson County, Texas. Thomas dewees was connected to a cattle driving partnership, Ellison and Dewees, of Wilson County. The partnership was Col. Jim Ellison and John Oatman Dewees. Col. Jim Ellison was probably the herd owner that Joel Collins feared facing with an empty wallet. If you are interested in a copy of the pages in the tally book where Joseph Collins is mentioned let me know at Copies will be no charge.

Mary Arnold Glenn
Mary's mother Camely Arnold is my Great-Great Grandmother. That makes us related somehow but I'm not sure how. My uncle's name was Glenn Arnold Thomas and of course his name came from your mother. Sorry to ask but are you "the" John Glenn.
