It would be nice to see more on the Howard line. You are the expert on this surname. Let me know what you find out.

RE: Howards in Goodhope
In Goodhope check a Martha A Howard, daughter of Andrew and Louisa with birth and death dates unknown. Do you know the dates?
I have a photo of another Howard headstone but the first name and dates are unreadable to me. I can send you the photo and maybe you can make sense of it?

My wife's great-grandfather was Andrew Newton Howard. Andy arrived in New York from England on Sept 23, 1867 aboard the "City of Paris".
He married Rachel Light Brown on May 14, 1882 in Phelps County MO. Rachel, who was half Cherokee, was quite a woman as she had 10 children from a previous marriage and another 12 with Andy. Her first husband was murdered in a cave in Missouri.
Andy and Rachel's forth child was James Henry Howard and was born in Newburg MO in 1889. James Henry was father to Bert Andrew Howard born 1921 in Blue Oklahoma. Bert was father to my wife Gayle who was born in Muskogee OK.

RE: Howards in Goodhope
You are quite welcome. I'm afraid that any other headstones for the Howard family may be unreadable as I photographed all of the headstones in the cemetery that I could read and added them to FindAGrave.
If you have particular names you are looking for I'd be happy to help you locate them. I know there are many Howards located in Tory Cemetery in Christian County.

There are many small family cemeteries in the Goodhope area and I'm searching for a local contact with intimate knowledge of old gravesites but have thus far been unsuccessful. Many of the roads in this area are unimproved and often too rough for my PT Cruiser to travel.

PS:My wife is also a Howard and her father's family is from the Muskogee Oklahoma area.

Good luck with your search.
