Pitt County Cemetery Survey
How have you been doing? I was wondering if you had a copy of the Pitt County Cemetery Survey. If not Mr. Kittrell uploaded a copy of both books on the internet. If this will help you out any. Let me know if you are able to pull them up. If not I will send you the link.

I have photos of the markers for the memorials in question. Please check my memorials now. Yes, it is "Kight".

RE: Surveys
The only that on a DC that DAR is taking any more as primary documentation is the date of death. The rest is secondary.

Surveys have there problems but sometimes it is better than nothing. I will see what the photos show. If she is not there, I will gladly delete the memorial I made for your recent one in the correct cemetery.

I did a 1955 type-written survey on a cemetery nearly Tallahassee. There were mistakes and I did corrections for a long time before it was done correctly. And, many surprises were reviled from that old survey as markers in the cemetery now are not the same as then. More were add but some were was a pre need one for a husband who remarried twice more and was buried elsewhere! The only thing that documented his marker was in the cemetery was the old survey.

RE: Cemetery duplicates
I just requested photos of the grave sites on the "Kight" persons. I got my information from an old survey and the name was Knight as I have that for the husband too.

There was another member who was working that cemetery with "boots on the ground" and he may know more about this than me and that old survey. I will try to find him.

RE: Mary Spillers
thank you so very much for the transfer of Grandmother Mary Ella Bloodworth Spillers. As you may have noticed I came down and took pictures in the New Prospect Cemetery and I am still working on some of them to post my husband works with me occasionally and for some reason he used a wider angle than usual and his all have to be cropped for the best look. I had a picture of the grandparents grave from about 20 years ago but back then the picture were not as clear and I could never truly see the date. You may have noticed I take alot of pictures and generally photograph entire cemeteries and document the photo on find a grave. If you see anyone in my memorials that you want to work on please ask as I will help anyone out if I can.
Once again thank you so much and Happy hunting ! Brenda Lynn Spillers Sorensen

RE: Ranburne
I am about as confused as a rat in a room full of fake cheese right now. Here is what I have learned so far. There is a Ranburne First Baptist Church next to the school in down town Ranburne. The cemetery is not covered in sand. That is where John R Nolen is buried. Been there and seen it today. It apears that there is another Ranburne First Baptist Church, may be the old Lost Creek Church but I don't know that for sure, that has a cemetery that was covered with sand. The cemetery, Church and Church sign are all posted with time date stamps that are with in 6 minute time frame. All I know for sure is that John is buried at the church next to the school in the cemetery that has not been covered in sand.

RE: Ranburne, Thanks
I drove back out to the Cemeteries today and checked the marker. John R Nolen is buried at Ranburn First Baptist Church. Memorial 43074069 has him buried at Lost Creek Baptist. Even the obituary they have posted has him being buried at Lost Creek Baptist. Unless the family had the grave moved I don't know what happened. The marker that I saw was John R Nolen born 17 Aug 1847 died 3 Dec 1936 wife Margaret born 8 Jan 18837 died 1 Feb 1908. That stone is absolutely at Ranburn First Baptist Church. If this is a relative of yours I will be glad to transfer the memorial to you?
