I have always been fascinated by cemeteries since I was a small child. I particularly like really old cemeteries & tombstones. I am definitely a "Graveyard Sleuth" I frequently stop at random cemeteries I happen to come across to look at the old stones.

I have been doing genealogy for over 25 years. I have spent countless hours doing research on the many branches of my family, and have met long lost relatives who I would have never known if it was not for my interest in ancestry. Cemeteries have a wealth of information to aid in research & to help tell the stories of those who have gone long before us.
I was born & raised in 96 SC, but have lived in the Columbia/Lexington SC area for over 10 years. I would be happy to take photos in cemeteries in this area, and also around my old stomping grounds in the Greenwood/96 areas. If It's kind of near there, but not actually in that particular county, ask anyway. I have LOTS of family all over the state, and you can never tell where the road may lead me! I am frequently in the upstate, so requests there or in Lexington or Columbia areas are no problem.
Happy hunting!

RE: Kesiah Vaughn King
Your welcome,I looked for Jarvios, but didn't see him. There was a lot of empty space around Keziah's headstone. He might be there without a marker.

Are you possibly able to go to Oakbrook and take a picture of the headstone or foot stone for Chandra Fields and family? I'm from GWD but live in Atlanta, so I'm not able to get to GWD often. If you can, great. If not, that's ok. Let me know please :-)

You left a message about volunteering because another Find A Grave volunteer was not living in SC anymore. I think the above name was who I was looking for a gravestone photo of. His grave is in Columbia. But I found the message below on his Find A Grave page that I had forgot about. So you don't have to go, unless you live nearby and want to double check. I don't remember if his Find A Grave page had the plot number.

An Find A Grave volunteer says: "The general problem they reported is: I searched the stated plot or section and could not find the grave." So, no headstone could be found.

Thanks so much for your offer to help. Even though it didn't work out, I appreciate the offer very much.

Do you know how to get the inactive Find A Grave volunteer's name changed to someone else?

Dean Goldman Memorial

Wanted to let you know that I went today and took more pictures because I went there yesterday and they were in the process of sand blasting the coping and The Goldman Headstone and they did a GREAT job, I looks great, I also took pictures of the foot stones.

If you want me to I will send the pictures to you and you can decide if you want to change some of them, I just need your e-mail address.

One more thing, I would consider it a privilege if you would allow me to pay to have the adds removed from the top of the page of his Memorial,I did my Brothers and it a nice complement to the Memorial & then you will be allowed to post up to 20 pictures where now the limit is 5.

Let me know.

Hi Jamie,
I have added a link to Deans Mom & Dad to his memorial and would be glad to transfer his memorial to you where it rightly belongs,To you, Had I known that you were a member and were adding memorials to your family I would have let you do his memorial to start with, I think that you would have felt better if that had been the case, But I did not know who to get in touch with so I did it for the love I have for Dean.

As for the interesting stories, Well I have more than I can post in this note and would gladly call you or meet you at the graveside and tell you some of the things that he and I talked about,Who knows he may want to hear them again...

Please call me or send me a message and let me know if you want me to transfer his memorial.

PS: Where I live the back of my property joins the Elmwood cemetery so I can keep the promise that I made to him that If he went before me I would look after his grave and I intend to do so as long as I live.
