Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started ancestry research about 25 years ago, but did not stay current. My husband wanted to research his family and find out who his great grandmother was. Now - I'm addicted! I love finding relatives and walking through cemeteries.

RE: Plotting GPS points
Hi Kay, Good to hear from you. We did get up there and plot the point but not before someone else had been there and taken and uploaded the photo. Doesn't matter to me who does it as long as folks give one another a heads up so we aren't stepping all over each other. This mapping thing started when my husband stopped into a funeral home to ask for information about the location of a cemetery. They had an old map on the wall that he took a picture of and has been adding information to ever since. It's a nice thought that if a family member should try to visit one of the graves that we've submitted photos for that they are able to locate the place if they are unfamiliar with the area and a good entrance photo of the cemetery and GPS points should greatly help. Hope things are going well for you with the Serenity Gardens project. Looks like the weather is going to be a challenge for the next week or so.

RE: Plotting GPS points
Hi Kay;

I just came to me that I wanted to tell you that my husband is trying to map all the cemeteries in this area. We do a little in Mobile, a little more in Baldwin, a lot in both Escambia county AL and FL, some in Santa Rosa, and very occassionally in more distand counties. We even do a little when we travel. We just like doing this so much. It's so rewarding and it's good excercise, etc. Anyway, I got an email earlier that said that there is a photo request in a cemetery in McDavid. We'd like to do this one and I've claimed it so I thought I'd let you know that this one is not a place we've been to previously and we'd like to do it so we can get those GPS points plotted. After this time if you would like to do that one we'll happily back off and let you have it but we'd very much appreciate doing it this time. Thanks!

Thank you so much for taking the photos of their graves. Don't live on the East Coast and don't often visit these days, so your help is much appreciated. Pat

RE: Ward photos at Jay
Hi Kay;

If you took the pictures you should post them. I'm not sure when we'd have gotten up there and there is no need for the requester to have to wait when you've got them. Thanks for giving us the heads up about you taking them though. We probably wouldn't have checked to see if anyone had done them before we headed up that way to get them and that is so frustrating to drive a way (we live in P'cola) only to get home and go to post them and find that they had already been posted and we'd wasted our time and expensive gasoline. We're seeing your name more and more on Find A Grave. So glad to have a new volunteer that is having as much satisfaction in helping as we do. Anytime you see a photo request that we've claimed and you want to do it please go ahead and let us know so we won't duplicate our efforts.
