I have been involved in collecting my family's genealogical records since 1980 largely due to my mother's and aunt's keen interest in researching their family roots. In addition, I grew up with my maternal grandmother on a plantation in Mississippi built in the 1830's by my ggg grandparents and she instilled in me at a very early age along with the rest of our family members a pride of our family's heritage. Because of the wide interest within our family, we have been lucky enough to trace our ancestry back to many famous people who helped found this country, including two passengers on the Mayflower. |
As all of us who have been involved in genealogy have learned, finding long lost records is not always easy. Find A Grave has been a great help in my research and I decided that perhaps as a contributor and photographer for FAG, I might be able in some small way to help others find their answers.
If you find errors in the information that I have provided, please let me know and I will be glad to recheck grave sites if necessary. It is very important to me to be correct in compiling any information submitted to Find A Grave. I will also be happy to transfer any page to you that I have generated provided the listing does not happen to be one of my own ancestors. Also, any photographs which are submitted by me may be used by anyone on any other site without my express permission for their use since I am of the belief that they do not "belong" to me.

Do you remember when you took the photos for James (77879440) and Leona (77882301) Meriwether if these were in the Pennington Cemetery where they currently are, or in the Pennington Methodist cemetery in Newton County?

I believe this is my grandmother's parents. How can I find out for sure? Can you help?
Thank you so much for the transfer. God Bless

You are correct that we would prefer you not delete the Memorial lose the picturevbefore it could be transferred to the older memorial. Our intention was not to force the removal of the duplicate. You can send a message to email@example.com and ask them to merge the two memorial if you wish.
Thanks for your work and help in the past.

Not a problem for me. I was a bit hesitant posting the edit because the 'Jan 1' date is "etched in stone" but thought it could be as a note, as you have done. I have far worse "etched in stone"; ie, "Frnak" vs "Frank", could you imagine seeing your grandfather's headstone with that on it.

Rebecca, Have you had any luck with John Farr? I've looked over all the information I have, and a CD someone sent me and can find nothing. Maybe a home cemetery, you know, where they buried loved ones in a grave yard at their homes. Happy searching, deb.

If you could send your email address to me (firstname.lastname@example.org), I could send you a Google map image with a mark where the Henderson Cemetery near Newborn is and a couple of photos I took there.
Sorry for the slow response. I have been in Africa since Feb 7th doing some volunteer work with Engineers Without Borders.

Hi Rebecca, I'm sorry John isn't buried here, this is a Marks family grave in Mansfield Ga. and they sit just as pictured. I do not know where John is buried. I'm his 5x's great granddaughter, twice. Through Rhoda and his other daughter Nancy. Rhoda of course married Marks, and Nancy married Lazenby, and a couple of generations down, their great or maybe greatgreatgrandchildren married. I wish I could find John's grave, as well as Polly and Keziah, for I think they are both my 5xs great grandmothers. Confusing isn't it? Sorry I couldn't help you. the Cemetery is in Mansfield Ga. off of Hwy. 11. Deborah
