Started several years ago on a search for my family history, after being introduced to Findagrave I began going to cemeteries and taking photos, then searching for obituaries to help others put together their family history. What began as a family search turned into a hobby or an addiction, whichever you'd like to call it. I live in Western PA.|

|Chuck Shoemake||Shoemaker in VA and PA|
Dottie, I am researching my wife's family and saw that you are maintaining a memorial for John Shoemaker in the Hines Cemetery in Westmoreland County, PA. I read that he was born in Loudoun County, VA. I'm back to James Shoemake, my 5th great grandfather, in South Carolina. Most everything indicates that he was a descendant of Jean de la Cheumette, a French Huguenot, who came to what was then Fauquier County, which neighbors Loudoun County, in the mid to late 1600s. de la Cheumette was later Anglicized to Shoemake, Shuemake, Shumate, and so on. I've even run across a few Shoemakers in the family. I can't make the connection...I'm shy by one generation. Do you know of any of your Shoemakers that went south through the Carolinas and into Mississippi Territory, Texas and Oklahoma? Thanks! Chuck

I'm new to this, so I'll present known information to you. Fredrick Delorey Wrighter #60498511, and Ellen Marie Ives #60498555 are the parents of Amelia Kathryn Wrighter Bish #76259938, who is my maternal grandmother. I have a picture of Ellen in her later years, and I think I have their wedding picture. Is any of this of interest to you?

Christina Clever is my partner Keith's 3rd great grand aunt. We have been together for 9 years, so I figured I should add his family to my obsessive hobby :)

Thank you for the transfer. I appreciate it.

You're welcome. When I see duplicates like that I know it's a system or computer hiccup! It's happened to me too.

Hi Dottie, I saw that you posted on obit of someone that I believe is a relative and just wondered if you had any other obits? I am looking for the obit of Frank E Callender (1866-March 1956)that is buried in the same cemetery. Thelma Callender's husband would be related to him according to the website.
