Hi Mary,
I'm sorry that I don't remember the circumstances
of my visit to Lena's site. Sometimes when I have time I go thru and try to leave flowers for other sites. Others have always been so kind to leave tokens on my loved ones sites and I enjoy doing the same. Take care and if you have time, please leave a token for my beloved husband, William Ray Royals.

Yes, this is a duplicate. I have alerted the person who created it and who also put the deceased person in the wrong cemetery.

I am in touch with this contributor all the time, because of him creating duplicates. I wish people would do a search before creating memorials.

Thank you for letting me know.

I didn't find it in our clippings from the Wise County Messenger or in the Bridgeport Index for 1968. All of those papers that we have are indexed on page

RE: New Delisle cemetery
If I have this wrong, then I'm sorry. I contacted Mr. Dan Ellis who is a local expert and has written books about the area, and he confirmed to me that the New Delisle cemetery is the same cemetery as St. Stevens. Here is the email that I received from him:

#1 St Stephens yes, or New Cemetery, predominantly Black and descendants of Old Cemetery burials
#2 Old Cemetery -- all early settlers, predominantly French

Subject: Delisle Cemetery

I have a question about Delisle Cemetery. I found a reference to an old cemetery and a new cemetery. The old cemetery appears to be the one at the end of Notre Dame Ave, and the "new" one is referenced as being north of Kiln-Pineville Rd.
Actually there are two questions:
1) Is the new cemetery the one called St Stephens?
2) Could locals call the older section of Delisle old Delisle?
