Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a Virginian by birth, raised in North Carolina, educated in Tennessee, and now living in southern West Virginia. I have been interested in Civil War history all my life, especially the Southern cause. For the past year I have been busy attempting to research my family. An exciting part of that research was to discover the burial place of my great, great grandfather, George W. Kinzer (also spelled Kinser in some records) in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth, NE. After serving the entire Civil War in Co F of the 51st Virginia Infantry, he moved his family to Plattsmouth, NE and established himself in his trade of gunsmith/machinist.
I am a social worker. Married for 41 years, the father of 4 children and the grandfather of 10. I am also the chaplain of the Flat Top Copperheads, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp 1694, Princeton, WV; Chaplain of the WV Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I am a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Removals
Hello Dennis,
Thank you for working with me to correct the error caused by having one cemetery listed twice. That makes three down and "only" 36 to go.
With appreciation
Marcia

RE: George W. KInser
You are so very welcome. The rubbing is not of the best quality due to the lichening on the stone but it obviously provides a better look @the stones detail. I didn't get a chance to look for mailers but I will send the original rubbing soon. If you ever make it to Omaha well definitely have to meet up for lunch & I can take you to the cemetery. Have a great weekend!

RE: Photo Request Fulfilled
No problem! I am glad I could help. I only wish I'd had my rubbing supplies with me that day. I will let you know when I get back out there. Good luck in all your future Findagrave endeavors!

Photo Request Fulfilled
As you can see I have fulfilled your photo request. Unfortunately, due to the age of the stone it did not photograph well. I will try & make it back out there to do a rubbing before it snows but I can't guarantee anything on that. If I don't get the rubbing soon, I will surely do it next spring.
In addition, I did not find a stone near his grave for his wife. I will ask the caretaker about this when he returns my call.

Perfect! I am looking @my map of the cemetery & I see that section. I will try & make it back out there tomorrow or this weekend, weather pending.

RE: George W. Kinzer
No problem. There is actually a section reserved for Masons. I searched it today & did not find the grave there but it is helpful information. I will get to the bottom of this. The caretaker didn't call me back today but I will hope for tomorrow. I will keep in touch.

RE: George W. Kinzer
This may seem like an odd question, but do you think he would be buried in a Catholic section? I ask only because the caretaker doesn't have plot maps or records for the Catholic section and I would need to contact someone else.

RE: George W. Kinzer
I am heading out to the cemetery now to look for the Kinzers. I have a call in to the caretaker but he usually doesn't call back until after 5 PM CST. I will share my findings when I am finished today. :)
