Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am 69 years old. born in Kansas but have lived in various states, Colorado and Texas for many years. I am a twin.
I have been researching my ancestors on both sides of my family for many years.
My dad, Hugh H. Melrose, died during the D day invasion of Normandy, France in 1944 and my grandad, Joseph M. Melrose died in 1953 in Durango, Colorado. My mother, Ruth Anna Wymer Melrose passed
her love of genealogy on to me so I carry on her research as well.

What proof do you have Wendell that Anna was adopted into the Comanche tribe? She is my husband's great-grandmonther.

RE: Dowell tombstone
Sorry for the long time it has taken me to return to this site. The top stone has fallen over, as you can see, and there is some sort of critter living in a hole it has made beside the stone. It hisses when anyone gets near it and we suspect it to be a badger. Not something anyone in my group wants to tangle with. We made a second trip out, toting a gun and I was able to get closer and take better pictures. The top of the stone, which would be the West face of it reads "THERE IS NO DEATH WHAT SEEMS SO IS TRANSITION. THIS LIFE OF MORTAL BREATH IS BUT A SUBERB OF THE LIFE ELYSIAN WHOSE PORTAL WE CALL DEATH." The South side of the stone reads " IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE OF MANLY DOWELL DIED OCT.15,1888 AGED 71 YRS 5 MOS 15 DAYS" The North side of the stone reads "IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE OF JULIA A WIFE OF M DOWELL DIED NOV.3,1900 AGED 67YRS 9MOS 6 DS".
I have decent pictures of those three sides of the stone if you would like to have them or would like them posted on their memorial pages.

Charles Patton photo request
Since you have blocked your email address for other than registered senders, I have no way other than this to contact you. You filed a photo request for an existing memorial(actually two memorials), owned by someone else, so you cannot be contacted from those memorials. Here is the email I tried to send you: "I claimed and fulfilled your open photo request for Charles Patton today, and reviewed your note about "Mattie", only to discover when I went to post the photos that there were already memorials and notices to you about this grave and Mollie 1852 - 1937, who obviously is Mattie and William alongside. We volunteers assume there is no existing memorial for new photo requests. I do not check before I go out. Please be more considerate. The Genealogy Society records are 20 miles from me one way and the cemetery is twenty miles the other".

You're welcome for the photo. I think the request was from last August. Good luck with your Weimer research. Barbara

Re: Charles Patton
I found Charles Patton's grave today. Nearby, there was a MOLLIE J. Patton and a William W. Patton. I did not see a Mattie Patton. Perhaps it was a nickname for Mollie? I'm not sure. Anyway, I have the pictures in case you are interested. Thanks!

I also added photos of the markers for Charles Abegg & Mae Abegg if you didn't look at their memorials.

RE: Ella Melrose tombstone picture
Happy Easter,
I am glad you enjoyed the picture. My family has been in the Allison/ Tiffany area for several generations. The Briggs in this cemetery are my family. I now live in Utah, but this last summer I took photos of the whole site and have been trying to find time to post the pics. I Now have all of the site pic's up that came out read-able.
