My hobby and mission is genealogy. I am researching my mother's Western European heritage and my father's West African heritage.
Most of my mother's family are from England, Ireland, Scotland, and Germany. They migrated to the US and mostly settled in MA, PA, and IA.
My father's line comes from West Africa in the slave trade. They were on plantations in AL. My relatives are still mostly in AL and GA, though a large portion moved to MI.
My father and mother both lived in CA where they met and I was born. I still live here in Southern CA.
There are several cemeteries in my area that I would be happy to help people with snapping photos and documenting the information. I know that I am so grateful for the ones I have found on this site for my ancestors and relatives in other states!
Happy Hunting! | |

 | RE: Thank you! I do have a question though. In his picture he is wearing SFC (Sergeant First Class) rank. But his headstone says SSG (Staff Sergeant). Do you know the reason for the decrepancy?Added by JOwens on Feb 18, 2013 9:14 AM | | | JOwens

 | Ida P Herr Hi, I just realized I made a duplicate of an existing file for Ida P Fenstermacher Herr Created by: J Martin Record added: Jan 06, 2013 Find A Grave Memorial# 103152432
Ida P Herr Created by: Eldora Sasser Record added: Jun 18, 2003 Find A Grave Memorial# 7595664
I really wish to thank you for the photographs of Ida and both her parents headstones. Would you mind adding your headstone photos to Ida's file original 7595664?
After they are transferred I will delete my duplicate. Thank you so much and sorry for the confusion. Jmartin (47658574)

 | RE: Thank you for the transer! Was your Dad a Redtail? They are militarily related the Air Guard unit I retired from (last June). I was in the 113th Wing, DC Air Guard, Andrews AFB. Benjamin O Davis was a commander of a fighter squadron in Ohio right after the war, and our Wing (it was only a Group then) received many of the pilots when they downsized in Ohio. I was very happy and honored to transfer the page to you. Those Red Tails that live in the Maryland area come to events we have every year.
Cheers
