Bio and Links
Bio Photo As a practicing American landscape photographer for forty years (1971-2011) I traveled this great land in search of beauty, goodness and magical experiences. Through these wanderings I discovered a penchant for genealogy and historical interpretation, commonly known as re-enacting, which is genealogy and American history taken to the extreme. That is, one attempts to interpret our heritage by dressing up in period attire for a weekend or more. At these events particular attention is given to the smallest detail. In recent years I discovered that heavy cameras and backpacking is work better suited to a younger person. I realized, through the eyes of a geologist, that mountains ARE getting shorter but not at a fast enough pace to facilitate my aging process. I am now retired and working on a book about my ancestors, the McClellans from Buittle and Twynholm Parish, Scotland, who immigrated to America in 1774. Following a voyage of eleven months and four day this hardy family of eight settled on the edge of the American frontier along the Connecticut River at Springfield, Vermont. There they remained for ten years. In 1784 they moved back across the Green Mountains to Cambridge, Salem and Hebron in Washington County, New York. All six children married and raised families and from there the great McClellan dispora began. I sincerely hope that you enjoy my photographs and historical research. Please stayed tuned for the book "William McClellan's Letter, A Common Man In An Uncommon Time", coming soon (within the next five years) to a bookshop near you.

And I have Janet's name as

I have never seen Janet's middle name as McClellan, so you have a source. Thanks.

RE: The Saxons
Very possibly he could be there due to there being quite a few very old graves. Some no longer can be read and are no longer marked. Sorry, not able to help.

RE: Spelling
How very true about cemetEry. Sadly, there is also occasionally no 'a' in my spelling of genealogy!! Perhaps I use it up in my 'cemetaries.' Thanks for heads-up and if you see any more of mine like that pls correct me. Have a beautiful spring. Sandi

Jane McClelland, Rev. War Cem., Salem, NY
I have made the corrections to the date and her husband's name. The currently posted picture of the stone is MUCH better than what I was working from. Thanks.

RE: A Question
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=listFaqs#79 Hi Clinton - I believe that link will take you to the directions. If it doesn't work, click on any of the Find A Grave logos and you'll be on a page with list columns on each side. Click on 'Frequently Asked Questions' and it contains LOTS of rules!! The best way to handle the corrections you want for your aunt and uncle is for you to use the Suggest a Correction function and send direct to me whatever you wish to add to their memorials. If it's links to other relatives I'll need their Memorial # to make sure I link them properly. Will be glad to add anything you need to either of them. The idea to transfer to you - you add - then transfer back to me doesn't work because Find A Grave isn't set up for that return transfer. In the future, after I get IOOF completely photographed & checked against grave records, I will be glad to make some transfers above the basic 'Direct Relative' rule of Find A Grave, but for now would prefer to continue to hold on to those which aren't parent, grandparent, etc. BUT am most anxious to get them as complete as possible so I welcome whatever you wish to send and will post it promptly! TY, Sandi
