|B.J. Waters||RE: Oliver Demmitt (aka Dimmitt)|
Hello again! Just thought I'd let you know that the marker has been uncovered and I've added photos to his memorial.
|B.J. Waters||Oliver Demmitt (aka Dimmitt)|
Hello. I am about to fulfill your photo request but unfortunately, at least for now, it is a photo of the area, only. I found the plot and found a Maggie Dimmitt, but no Oliver. The office staff told me there should be a headstone, but it must be buried under the sod. I have put in a work order to have it uncovered. They will let me know next week when it gets uncovered, and I will go back and take another photo.
By the way, the contributor known as "Shiver" used an unreliable source when she built memorials of Civil War soldiers on this site. The source was full of errors and she did not confirm the information with the cemetery records. The spelling of Oliver's last name might actually be Dimmitt, as Maggie's stone has Dimmitt, but the cemetery's record also has Demmitt. Also, the location is not in the Crescent Plot, but is in Del Ivy, lot 619.
Shiver does not respond to SACs, and hasn't ever since I joined this site.
I will let you know when the photo of the uncovered stone has been added to the memorial.
