|Now my interest in genelaogy goes back to as a child when my father and I would go for walks and I wanted to go through a local graveyard to look for the oldest tombstone.|
I was born in Peoria, IL but my family left the area and did not return until early in my seventh grade year moving to Dunlap, IL., then attending high school and college in Illinois. Jobs had me eventually becoming an East Coast resident.
The Peoria-area names I specailize in are; Abbott, Burns, Callery, Daley, Delaney, Fulton, Gallup, McDonna, McMullen, Moore, Ross and Sheen.
A proud member of One Foot In The Grave.

I'm sorry. No rush. I've run into many people who doubt the validity of this family connection. As for your involvement: you found an obituary for Ila Mae Hamm; daughter of William Sylvester Hamm in the Peoria Journal Star to go along with her grave site in Riverside Cemetery. My problem is that William's son Guy Arthur isn't listed under his children which is making my attempt to reconstruct the family history awkward.

Would it make any difference if I showed you a photo of my grandfather with his sisters Ethel Mary, Ila Mae and Leta Violet Hamm?

Charles Darwin wasn't as fortunate as you and I; as William's direct descendant I can provide you with further information on these. :)

Mike, I found your memorial on William S. Hamm. Based on my research I am his great-granddaughter but my grandfather, Guy Arthur Hamm (3/16/1888-1/14/1949), isn't listed under William and Mary Jane's children. (My research places Guy Arthur between Raymond S. and Ila Mae). Can we be in touch about this?
Thank you for the information for Mehitable Gallup Whipple.

So I have posted photos for RC and Mary and the others in the lot. The cemetery has no records of McMullen. The names in the cemetery records and on the marker is McMillen, however, the dates do match. For Mary the actual date of death is 28 Feb 1926.Sec P, Lot 67

Hi Mike, I checked the AM and PM Peoria newspaper for 9 days after June 11, 1906. No obit or death notice for Cath.
So on to plan B! I will check with the cemetery for her burial record and see if it holds any clues.
To be continued...... :)
