I am an officer of the Fredericksburg Cemetery Co. in Fredericksburg, Va. I will happily try to assist with any inquiries about the City Cemetery.

I have recently completed the addition to findagrave of ALL of the burials we know of in the City Cemetery. There is still some fine-tuning to be done and of course we cannot mandate corrections/additions to those memorials we did not create.

I will be glad to transfer family members. Please ask.

Thank you for the message, wonderful information! I declined your edit only because I had already made the changes based upon the death notice sent me by BigFrench before I saw your edit request! But edit is done, and thank you!

Florence,
Thanks for cluing me in to FindAGrave protocol. I sent an e-mail as you suggested. I am now hopeful for a quick response and efficacious resolution so future generations of Stearnses can better know and memorialize their ancestors. Thanks for all the work you do benefiting and connecting so many families, so many people, past and present.

RE: Miss Emmaline Stearns
I have been trying. Only to discover there are actually TRIPLICATE MEMORIALS in Fredericksburg for Emeline (Gilham), the wife of Doran Harding Stearns, mother of Edgar W and Walter P Stearns.

(1)Emeline Jackson Gilham (1845-1911) “Wife of Doran H. Stearns”
# 5004880 created by “PL” in Confederate Cemetery, May 18, 2000.

(2)Emeline Stearns (1844-1911) # 6101619
created by “PL” in Confederate Cemetery, May 18, 2002.
A photo of the gravestone of Emeline Lee Stearns, a granddaughter of Emeline (Gilham) Stearns, has been mistakenly posted here. BUT, it appears Emeline (Gilham) Stearns actually does share a stone with one of her other granddaughters, Adele L Stearns. See the photo added by “Keeping Time” at Adele’s Memorial Page, # 5651661.

(3)Emmeline Jackson Gilham Stearns (1845-1911) # 80409868 created in Fredericksburg Cemetery by Florence Barnick, Nov. 14, 2011

Turns out there were two memorials for William and Julia with headstone photos already, so I submitted the info you sent to me to those memorials. (#153982909 & #153982810)

Florence, thank you for the heads up re: the burial location for William and Julia. I have changed the location for both to the Confederate Cemetery, Fredericksburg, Fredericksburg City, Virginia.

Thanks EVER so much!
I wanted to thank you for the 'heads up' for Anna Gray! Like you, I initially was a bit surprised she was not buried with her family on the old family farm, but she had been living with her brother Robert and his wife. His wife did get buried in Fredericksburg according to her death certificate. I will be adding her there today.

Appreciate all of your efforts.

I do wish there was a place where the Eastwood Farm [which is named Gray Family Cemetery here on Find A Grave] this cemetery's headstones had been transcribed. Thanks again!
