Bio and Links
Bio Photo West Norwood Cemetery (WNC) is over 40 acres and some parts are covered in brambles and completely inaccessible. Ivy covered memorials can be seen sticking up through the undergrowth here and there.

Lambeth Council has an online database of re-used graves in West Norwood Cemetery. If you find your ancestors on this website, there will be no sign of their graves in the cemetery, and any grave marker on the plot will belong to the new owner.

I strive for accuracy but am not infallible. Corrections and additional information are welcome. Please use the Edit tab on the memorial in question.

For all other matters, I can be contacted by using the 'Edit' tab on this memorial, and then selecting 'Suggest any other correction or addition'.

Please don't write in ALL CAPS. I won't strain my eyes trying to read it. All lower case is ok.

Thomas McKew and Harriet McKew - nee Newman

I would like to thank you very much for taking the great photos. Thomas is my great grand uncle on my father's side of the family.

Kind regards,

RE: John Johnson Hamilton
The photo you took is just great. I would however appreciate the name of the new manager, if you have it handy. Can you talk an e-mail address out of him?

According to the scan of the book I saw, only three Hamiltons are buried in the vault. I am still trying to find where their brother, William Swan Hamilton, was buried.

Thank you again so much.

How did you figure out this was in Square 20 and 34 instead of 35 if there is not writing on the mausoleum? Must have taken some detective work on your part.

So, there is actually a mausoleum still standing? I thought it might have been destroyed. I cannot tell you how much this means to my husband and his family.

RE: Ann Gray Simms
Sorry about the Ann Gray Simms "mixup". I was so thrilled to see the photos that I went ahead and entered her photo. I did not know that she was buried there.

I do not want this to be an inconvenience to you but if you have time to clean it up and take another photo that would be wonderful.

Do you know if there are any other Simms buried in this cemetery?

Your help has been superb and I'm most appreciative.

James, Emily, James Dudley Rowland
Thanks so much for uploading the photo of the Rowland's gravesite. James and Emily were my grandparents and James Dudley (Jimmy) my uncle. James was a succesful confectioner in Southwark and the subject of a hallmark case in the trademark field, Rowland v. Mitchell. I'm particularly touched by the inscription from Emily to James. hi, yeahh was dissapointed, the request for ALEXNADER JOHNSON is the husband of the HARRIETT im after, i added the cemetrey as i thought the harriett was mine, and that they would have been burried at same place, but have no proof!!! What makes it funny, is that he was a UNDERTAKER??? Im wondering now that the death i have for harriett maybe for your harriett not mine!

HI, I think the foto is not the correct HARRIETT JOHNSON, her husbands name was ALEXANDER JOHNSON, the stone gives husband as a SAMUEL.The death doc i found may well have been for this lady if you found that plot number, as on Find A Grave memorial?? If so, pls let me know for sure, as i need to remove it from the memorial, my HARIETT WAS 66 at death. I had got so excited when i saw it, but must be wrong one, can you remove the foto sorry.
