|Rita Graves||RE: James Sanchez Jr.|
Hi Lynn, I've found an obituary for James Sanchez, and it's now posted on his memorial. Unless your father knew of James' wife or parents' names, this may not be of much help. I can tell you with about 90% certainty that this James is a black man, judging by the funeral home used. We're all trying to get to the point of color-blindness, but so many funeral homes still cater to the original races that gave them their business. I'm sure there "should" be some military site where you could search someone's unit; but I don't personally know of any.

Thank you for your effort in looking for A.W.Pope. His brother Virgil Pope and mother Freelove Waterman Pope are buried in that cemetery. I think he died in Cedar Co., Missouri but I thought they might have brought his body back for burial to Wisconsin to be with his mother and brother Virgil Pope.
From old newspaper article by Virgil Pope it said that he and his brother Anson W. Pope first settlers Nov. 16, 1835 of Janesville, WI. Section 14. His younger brother Cyrus Waterman Pope (my 2nd ggf.) and mother and other brother's came out to Janesville @1838-1839 when still Wisconsin Territory.
