Bio and Links
Bio Photo As a genealogy researcher for more than thirty years my passion has taken me on quite a family history journey. The most distressing thing during this journey has been how many gravemarkers have been destroyed by time and the elements and by vandalism, but especially those graves that were never marked.

If I possessed all the money needed, I would see to it that each and every unmarked grave was given the rememberance that person deserves. So, I am happy to contribute to Find-A-Grave. I encourage others to do so as well.

My roots are in the Heart of Dixie. I have a keen interest in knowing about the soldiers of the 16th Regiment of Alabama Infantry, CSA, the 1st AL & TN Independent Vidette Cavalry, USA. I encourage anyone who has an ancestor in either of these regiments to please submit information about them to me for inclusion in my research.

Old Church Cemetery
Hi. I wanted to let you know that this cemetery was vandalized this past weekend. Many of the graves were DUG UP and tombstones overturned. If your ancestor is there, you should contact the American Legion in Burke County as they are the group who take care of this cemetery. Please pass this on if you know anyone else who might be affected. I'm so sorry this has happened and so very angered by the thieves actions!

Henry Smith
I live just down the road from Shady Grove Methodist church and cemetery. I am certain that there is only one cemetery there even though there are 2 listed here on find a grave. One is Shady grove Methodist and the other is simply, Shady grove cemetery. I believe this Henry is listed at both sites. Jane

RE: Methel Murray
You are very welcome. I hope it's what you wanted? That cemetery is so over grown with weeds.

Merry Christmas!

John Sledge
Hello Carolyn,

I saw that you manage the memorial for John Sledge (1730-1798). I'm curious to know how you discovered his burial place and other information about him. I descend from John through his son Mins.

James Gregory Confederate Soldier
Carolyn,
I have taken photos of the graves in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, Mecklenburg County, VA. One of the photos is of a James B. Gregory who was a confederate soldier. Do you think this might be the James S. Gregory you are looking for?

The transfer has been made as requested. If you will do a photo request, I have the picture of the marker. I have quite a few (a LOT) of photos and will be glad to delve into my files for this one if you remind me :).
