Echols/Terry connection
Would really like to hear more about your connection to the Echols/Terry Family. I'm researching my father's side of the family and his grandmother was an Echols

Transfers
Marsha,

I did the transfers awhile back but realize I didn't let you know. I have been traveling quite a bit and catching up here and there when I have time. If you need anything else let me know. I think our families have crossed paths in Greene Co.

RE: (Mary) Louise Edington Hardesty
Marsha, so sorry to hear about the passing of your dear Aunt Louise and thank you for letting me know. The f.a.g. memorials for her and "Bud" are beautiful and what a wonderful life they had together. They truly were exemplary people.

RE: Fern
Marsha, after I remembered your ancestors, now I realize what you needed for Aunt Fern was her link to the Hardesty's.

Beginning with Thomas Hardesty of Greene Co., IN
whose wife was Nancy Chaney
Their son Aquilla Hardesty - wife Catherine Meek
Their son Richard - wife Sara Imhoff
Their son Andrew - wife Harriet Emma Cullison
Their daughter Ethel Etta - husband Jesse Benjamin Martindale
Ethel Etta Hardisty Martindale and Jesse Benjamin Martindale were Aunt Fern's parents - and my grandparents. Their children were Wendell (my father); Albert; Fern; and Victor.

I also have quite an extensive history of the Hardesty/Hardisty family I can share if you need more.

RE: Fern
It's easier to begin with Ralph Peter Martindale and his wife Delilia (Davis or Devers or Davers).

Their son Andrew Johnson Martindale and his wife Elizabeth Jane Royal (Aunt Fern's grandparents)

and Jesse Benjamin Martindale and his wife Ethel Etta (Hardisty) Martindale (Aunt Fern's parents).
Jesse Benjamin Martindale died November 12, 1918 at age 33. Ethel Etta then remarried to Seymour Ray.

Jesse Benjamin and Ethel Etta Martindale had four children:
Wendell Laudus (my father married Johnie McMurry)
Albert (married Mildred Hawkins)
Victor Chester (married Olive Marie Parker)
Fern (her mother said her middle name was Marie but Aunt Fern didn't use it, ever!). Fern married Lee Ray Holtsclaw.

I have quite an extensive genealogy on Martindales I can share, only need to determine the most compatible way to do it.

RE: Estal and Louise (Edington) Hardesty
Marsha, you are correct! My grandmother Ethel Etta (Hardisty) Martindale-Ray was daughter of Andrew Johnson Hardisty and Harriet Emma (Cullison) Hardisty. The find-a-grave experience is great for linking up with relatives, especially those we never knew but suddenly are found! This has been a good week, I found another 4th cousin in my Martindale family!

RE: Estal and Louise (Edington) Hardesty
Isn't it wonderful that your Aunt Louise reached her goal of being 100 yrs. old! I have a handwritten letter from Louise to my Aunt Fern giving her the Hardesty history for Estal Willard's ancestors as well as children of Estal and Louise. The envelope looks to be dated March 19, 1992. Aunt Fern knew them well since they usually attended the reunion in Greene Co., IN. I was so happy to see those pictures you posted! Aunt Fern (Martindale) Holtsclaw passed away on June 27, 2003, and is buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Greene Co., IN (F.A.G. Memorial is posted). She left so many NEWS clippings to me and I have tried to pass the info along through F.A.G.

Estal and Louise (Edington) Hardesty
Thank you so much for posting the photographs of Estal and Louise (Edington) Hardesty. Estal was a cousin (3rd or 4th) of mine that I never met. My Aunt Fern (Martindale) Holtsclaw left me the genealogy she had gathered and I tried to create as many memorials as possible from her work. Thanks again, Margaret #46995858
