Hi everyone, I am a War-baby. . .patriotic at that, born on 4th July. My dad/Ed Ennis was in the MTO flying Combat in the 321st Bomb Group in the B-25 and I am a WWII Historical Researcher for the 57th Bomb Wing and Historian for 2 of her Groups, 319th and 321st BG. I also place anyone who askes and I add to their web-pages with their Find-a-grave Memorials. I am a retired Licensed Optician, have a cool husband and children and grandchildren. It is entirely MY pleasure to be serving our WWII (and other) Heroes. We have my brother-in-law's FLAG (KIA)on our hearth, an Honor to be reminded every day that 'our freedom' was won at a very great price. God Bless you all. Barbi|

|Jan Bos from Nijmegen, Holland||1Lt Leonard L. Shapiro and crew|
1st Lieutenant Leonard L. Shapiro, 2nd Lieutenant Nathan H. Greenwood, Staff Sergeant Lawrence E. Rider, Staff Sergeant George F. Schulze and Technical SergeantRobert L. Waldrip were on board of a B-25 Mitchell medium bomber. The plane was shot down by flak while on a bombing raid to Gerbini airfield, in Sicily. It was 5 July 1943. All five crewmembers on board the plane were killed in the crash.
The men were buried in the temporary American cemetery GELA [Sicily] in plot-grave number I-101-1204 as a group burial.
After the war the remains of the men were repatriated and reburied in the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery [Kentucky] in grave E-246 (group burial)
I am working on a manuscript for a possible book about the Gela cemetery and would like to use the picture you posted on Findagrave.com, hope to finish the book this year
On board the plane was also a pet, that was killed in the crash. I have no information what happened to the dog and where he was buried.
Can I have your permission, of course you will be credited and notified when the book will be finished
Are you related?, if so, can you help with information

Thank you for sponsoring Mr. Wendell's page, that is so very kind of you. Bless you for all the work you do on behalf of our veteran's who've given so much for this country. My dad and all his brothers and my mom's brothers served in WWII. My husband and both of my sons have served as well. In fact, one is still in the military and served in Iraq. God bless all our men and women who serve.
Thanks Princess. Your work is most honorable and sincerely appreciated by the families of our fallen heroes of the Greatest Generation! auRayvoir
