RE: jesse nadien forgey
I sent a message to you on your email yesterday. Jesse was my grandmother and Irene was my great aunt. I really think you might have the wrong Felicia Irene but we will try to sort this out. Ira Thomas Forgey was married to Velma Gee Irwin and they had a child Johnny Irwin Forgey birth 29 Aug 1921 Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma. One day Happy (Ira Sr.) walked off and left never to return. Velma was left with his and her child Johnny, his children with Ada Fitzgerald: Granny (Jessye) birth 17 Mar 1914 Athens, Henderson, Texas, Ira Jr. (Her brother) birth 07 May 1916 Bloomingrove, Navarro, Texas and Irene 19 Jul 1910 Blooming Grove, Navarro, Texas. Ira Sr. went off and I assume remarried because I found him on a census with a new wife and another daughter, new wife being Ebbie birth 1906 Arkansas and new daughter Wynona birth 1924 Oklahoma. When Ira left them Velma kept Johnny. She sent granny and Uncle Ira to the orphanage in Tipton, Oklahoma (Tipton Children's Home) and because Irene was older the Fitzgerald's took her in. She was old enough to help with house work so I've been told and really don't know the whole story. When Irene went to work in the ship yards and did not want to put down none under part of her name so she added the first name Felicia. I do know that Ira Sr. came by the orphanage a couple of times and granny did talk to him. But she always wondered where he was and if he was dead or alive.
I would love to hear more or see a picture of your young Felicia Irene and hear more about where she was born and see if we do in fact have a connection. It is possible some of our questions will be answered.
I sent this to your SBC address, maybe it is in your junk mail and it has my email on it.
Linda
