Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been in the process of writing a book on roadside crosses for several years, but ran out of fuel when we lost our daughter. I'm incorporating the roadside crosses when I can so that all my research doesn't go to waste. Now I'm in the midst of creating a geneology book for my Mom to pass down through the generations. I found this site and am thoroughly engrossed with all the wonderful information available. I would appreciate any information you have on roadside crosses in New Mexico.
Here's a little information concerning the cemeteries in/near Artesia, NM. Woodbine Cemetery has a section on the east-side called San Marcos. Many of the mexican burials were performed there. The north east corner of Woodbine was called Woodlawn Cemetery, and many of the black burials were performed there. Twin Oaks Cemetery was formerly known as Restlawn Memorial Park.

RE: Related to the Rhyne's?
Jacob Stroup Rhyne was the 5th child of Jacob Rhyne and Caty Stroup Rhyne, Jacob married Caty first and Sally Hope 2nd. Jacob & Caty had 5 children, Jacob & Sally had about 8 children.
Jacob Rhyne was son of Johan Phillip Rhyne, all of Jacob & Caty children lived in Cherokee County, Georgia, while Jacob and Sally lived in Itawamba County, Mississippi.

My wife Barbara is a great granddaughter of Jacob Stroup Rhyne. You can find all of this on my family tree on, you will find your dad's information on our tree and can trace him back to where the Rhyne's came to America.
