Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am somewhat new to Findagrave.com, but I hope to give back some of the invaluable assistance I have received in my genealogical quest. By organizing and cataloging my ancestral line and documenting the milestones in the lives of my grandparents and bringing to light, those events lost to time.

I was prompted to begin a family tree when I discovered how difficult it was to explain relationships to my son when he was of a young age. It was complicated by the fact that my father was adopted, as was his mother. With each new discovery I was motivated to find out more and more information. Nothing could have spurred me more than the time my research lead me to reunite my father with his biological sisters who were separated as toddlers more than fifty years earlier.

My mother's family is rich with history. Their roots so deep in American history. Fighting Indians as Colonists, as revolutionaries and loyalists, as Indian traders and neighbors to George Washington, serving in the War of 1812 and fighting the Union in the American Civil War. Each line seeming to stretch back further than the one before, and around each corner another fascinating story.

This started as a project that would seem to have a final result. I have since learned that this is an endless quest. A constant work of editing and refinement, expanding with each new discovery. I love it!

Lucretius Gustavus Reed
Hi Richard. Lucretius Gustavus Reed is also my great-great grandfather. I'm named after his daughter Inez Tomlinson Reed who married James Samuel Lawrence. I have a large photo of Lucretius hanging in my living room.

RE: Julia Ann Bray
Actually, if I remember correctly there is no other burial that seems associated with hers. I will however double check as the cemetery is only about a mile from my home. I'll let you know what I find out.

Mrs. Bray - # 101826512
I'm sorry, but I don't have any further information on this person. The statement I included with her memorial was taken from The Hartwell Sun newspaper, published in Hartwell, GA.

In the September 26, 1877 issue of the paper, it stated that Mrs. Bray died on September 18, 1877, at the home of T. S. Bray, from a lingering illness. She was buried at Cokesbury Church, Hart County, on September 19, 1877. She leaves a grandson, T. S. Bray.

There was a Thomas S. Bray on the 1880 census for Hart Co., so I feel like he is the T. S. Bray mentioned above. He was not in Hart Co. in 1870. There were no BRAY families in Hart Co. in 1860, but there were several in Elbert Co. and Franklin Co. You might try looking in these counties for early info on this family.

Good luck,
Bobbie

Statenville Cemetery
Richard,
By any chance do you know if all this cemetery has been done? I have numerous Herndons I have not been able to find. One is the husband of Florida Herndon that is buried here.
Thanks,
Donna

Pvt John Clem Sirmons
Hello Richard,

Great information on John Clem Sirmons. I'm related to Hardeman Sirmons his 2nd cousin through my grandmother. Anyway, I was wondering if you knew when and why their Surname: Sirmans was changed to Sirmons?

Thanks again for the great information!

Thanks bro for introducing me to Findagrave.com.....I am officially hooked. Love the silhouette of your little baby face on your profile. You still have that same puffy bottom lip....cute.
