I just saw your message. I have been very busy and haven't been on Find a Grave a lot lately.
Yes, I will look into you request and see what I can find.
Clovie may still be alive. Someone has posted a pix of her tombstone on Find-A-Grave but there is not death date on it. Just FYI here here is the link: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=banning&GSfn=clovie&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=26800904&df=all&
|James French||RE: Charlie and Martha Banning|
I remember Clovie. My parents and I moved from Modesto, California to a farm just down the road from Charlie and Martha. I was about 7 or 8 years old. My parents, grandparents etc were all from that area so I assume they new Charlie and Martha prior to that time. We stayed on the farm for about a year or so and then moved to southern California for several years and then moved back to where I am now in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
I remember my dad and Charlie would get together and butcher a hog or make molasses as well as do other things to help one another out. Charlie had a lot of curios he would show me, like a chain or a snake carved out of wood, things that would fascinate a little kid.
I remember Clovie as always smiling and teasing me. I always thought she was so pretty. The last I heard, which was years and years ago, she had married someone, but I could be mistaken on that.
Charlie, Martha and Clove were always so kind to me, I have never forgotten them after all these years. I had wondered what had happened to them when I came across their information on Find-A-Grave
