I have researched my ancestry for over 45 years. The surnames in my direct lineage include Parker, Currence, Legg, Mooney, Wilbanks, Thomas, Holbrook, Thayer, Wright, Rooker, McCallum, Hawkins, Maret, Isbell, Keese, Strain, Bandy, Cleckler, Goodson, Whisenant, Head, and Suggs.|
Having grown up in Rome, GA, I attended the Rome City Schools and graduated from West Rome High School in 1961. I attended Shorter College and graduated in 1965 with a B. A. degree, major in Biology. Upon attending graduate school at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, I received the Ph. D. degree in 1971 with a specialty in Zoology. After post-doctoral studies in Medical Parasitolgy and an instructor's position at the Medical College of Virginia (Microbiology Dept.), I taught biology at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC for a few years before going to North Georgia College and State University (now University of North Georgia).
I am a retired university Professor having taught courses in Human Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Microbiology, Human Histology, Medical Parasitology, and Wildlife Biology. I retired in 2005 from North Georgia College and State University after 37 years of teaching at the college level.
I have membership with the Sons of Confederate Veterans, National Society Sons of the American Revolution, Society of Indian Wars of the United States, Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge, and the General Society of Colonial Wars.
Currently I am compiling a new edition to my book: "The Strain Family: A Genealogy of the Descendants of Andrew Strain, Sr. of North Carolina" which was originally published in 1985. For a number of years I have been the Historian for the Strain Family Association which meets annually on the third Sunday in July at the Sugar Valley Baptist Church, Sugar Valley, Georgia.

I have transfered to you to update as you wish, Loudonia is also related to the Heltons from this area, That was the reason for the listings.

|junebug||RE: Jacob Gordon Cleckler and James|
Thank you for the confirmation for Jacobs' grandson James' parents!
I also was able to confirm this with a relative and, thankfully, requested linking for him yesterday.
This is not my line, but rather a friend from church, who is a descendant of James' sister Maybel (who just recently passed).
Such a blessing... you've been a huge help and all the research you've done will surely bless this line.
Again, thank you!

|K||RE: William Wilbanks|
I apologize. The informaton you have and the information I have are in fact different. I have not seen nor read that book. The information I have in my possession came from the gg grand-niece of William Wilbanks (Jr. or the son of William Wilbanks) and her family bible.
Thank you for your time and information.

William Wilbanks (50395514) is my GGG Grandfather. He is actually a Jr. His Father, William Woolbanks/Wilbanks Sr. was the Revolutionary War Veteran.
His birth is incorrect. He was born in 1783 Spartanburg, SC
Would you mind transfering his memorial over to me? If not, thank you for managing his memorial.
