I live in Salem, Marion County, OR.

I try to link as many relatives together as possible. There are some entries I make not directly related to me and I will be more than happy to transfer these over to close relations.
I have run into people who refuse to honor requests to link certain people together and it is quite frustrating. It's not about the numbers its about family!
Family history is exciting, fun and important to all of you who read this.
This is a wonderful website for people researching their ancestors and without these crucial links, we run into many brick walls!

Hi, Marralene,
I just made a memorial for Amanda. It is #108683738. I very much appreciate your taking a picture of the plot and visiting the funeral home. Did they say who else was buried in Plot 24? Charles and Amanda had five children, and I have not been able to locate any of their children's graves. Their daughter, Maude, and her husband Victor Runnels, also died in Polk County. Folks buried without tombstones are usually not included in lists of those in a particular cemetery.

That's the very first "Woo-Woo" for me! Must mean you are pleased, which makes me glad as well. You are very welcome for the photos. That marker is under shade until midmorning. It is on a sort of raised flat (couldn't really call it a hill) and the water does not pool there. I did find a listing for Amanda in the Oregon Death Index.
Name: Amanda M Thorp
Death Date: 9 Apr 1925
Death Place: Polk
Certificate: 51
The state archives will let a person take a digital photo of a death certificate. I know someone who has done that. I will ask her if she can get this one. It might say where she was buried.

Marralene, thanks for the email address for Andrew at the mortuary. I will contact him. I have used Oregon's historical records index and have a copy of Charles' estate records. No listing for Amanda, unfortunately.
